Would be useful to see an example of a deployment diagram for AWS.

In the toolbox you have Associate available in 2 places. I dont have the Class Relationships sub section even though I am in UML / Behavioural perspective. I only have Associate available in the Communication Relationships sub section. When I mimick your actions using that Associate, I receive an error: The requested connection is not UML Compliant. Not sure what is going on and why the difference between our toolbox views.

Such a bad decision to have LOUD BACKGROUND MUSIC! Pretty much renders this useless, it's unbearable to watch when using headphones.

Shouldn't the components be dropped as "Lifeline" on the Sequence Diagram, instead of as "Link"? Or doesn't it matter?

Nice and clear... So I understand that timing diagrams are to state machine diagrams like what object diagrams are to class diagrams. However, when creating object diagrams we can simply drag classes to the diagram and they'd typically be added as objects. Can't we just simply drag the states created from a state machine diagram straight from the model to a timing diagram?
@SparxSystems23 күн бұрын
Hi @tkiblawi1 - an excellent question. We are looking for ways to be able to reuse the states now - so hopefully there will be something for a future release.
@charlybrown-z3n20 күн бұрын
I would say: timing diagrams are a kind of sequence diagrams with states and state transitions instead of messages. Timing diagrams are, like the sequence diagrams, part of the "Interaction Diagrams" sub-group of the "Behavioural Diagrams" group (they even share the same Lifeline concept). Adding another lifeline and some triggers between the two lifelines to change the status on the triggered one would improve a lot this example and reveal the interactive nature and show the real power of this kind of diagram... And of course the long awaited possibility to re-use the states shown on the state diagrams in the timing diagrams would improve a lot the features of this really great tool! 🙂

UML Actors are out of date with the ArchiMate language, you can use Roles / Actors of ArchiMate
@SparxSystems29 күн бұрын
Hi @ChristianGijselsPilot - we plan to a video on ArchiMate in the near future, and you are correct, you can mix and match the exact elements you require on any diagram to deliver the information you are after.

You can also use PIE diagrams to indicate the status % of the Requirements

Impressive video, Sparx Systems. Looking forward to your next upload from you. I clicked the thumbs up icon on your content. Keep up the fantastic work! Your insights into state machine diagrams are incredibly valuable. How do you see the integration of these models evolving in complex systems as technology advances?
@SparxSystemsАй бұрын
Thanks for your comment and insightful question. The models in the case study we are using can easily be expanded for complex systems. The tool can handle any level of complexity with literally millions of elements. The important thing is to model at different levels of abstraction, scale, and focus. For example, break component models down into subsystems, create hierarchies of nested requirements and create use case and state machine diagrams at various layers and levels.

Great presentation! As usual. As for the merits, I really like the embedding and compiling of MDG in the model! It significantly simplifies the work with the Sparx environment configuration. In addition, APM gives a chance to quickly start and achieve the goal of having a knowledge base about the organization for people who are not experts in modeling in ArchiMate. Great solution!

Every time I come back to Enterprise Architect I have to struggle with it for an hour just to figure out how to perform the most basic actions, like adding a class in a model. Frustrating that there are no tutorials that are that simple and basic.
