It was working fine before I messed with it when I wanted to recover the headliner. Any idea what could be the problem and if I need to take the whole sunroof out now? Thanks!

Thank for the video instructions. Hammering in the car did not work for me. the ring kept spinning. Instead, I used a snap ring removal tool plier (harbor freight). Placed the snap ring plier in between the snap ring opening and squeeze the plier to expand the snap ring as far as possible while pressing hard down so the plier does not get out of place. now use a large flathead screw driver, place it behind the snap ring and slowly twist to pop it out. Would be nice to have extra person to help. Good luck!!

How to re-install SNAP Ring. i found this instruction after struggling and gave up. Simply put everything back in place except the final ring. Put this BIG ring in the wrong way so the groove made for the snap ring is facing towards you. Next, simply put the steering wheel on and begin to tighten the steering wheel all the way and then... VOILA The snap ring is in place I hope that this could help anyone trying to change his steering wheel bearing DON'T FORGET ..to remove the steering wheel again and switch the BIG ring back into the correct position facing towards the snap ring.

You aren't taking into account Calibrated airspeed vs Indicated and the conversions charts are based on cruise power so its even lower with less power. Also, the bank angle charts are with the assumption that you are maintaining altitude and providing back pressure on the yoke to invoke the additional load factor. If you are turning downwind to base you are in a descent and not maintaining altitude as well as base to final. I agree with your verdict, however I think you can exceed the calculations.
@cabdolla3 жыл бұрын
If you are turning and not maintaining level flight, you will have a lower load factor. That means the wings need to make less lift. Therefore, you will be flying at a lower angle of attack and be safer than in a level turn, for the same given indicated airspeed.

While opening my sunroof the panel that you open manually went too far back and now i cant pull it back, because of that the sunroof only slides 30% back , what can i do? I dont know how to properly explain this
@cabdolla4 жыл бұрын
Miguel Teles there is no manual part of an e36 sunroof. If you were moving the fabric metal panel inside the car manually it was always broken and you pushed it too far back and so now you can’t gain access to it. You will need to remove the headliner and drop the entire sunroof cassette out of the car.
@miguelteles29724 жыл бұрын
@@cabdolla Yes, i was refering to that fabric metal panel. It wasnt conected to the sunroof, i could slide that part alone. Would it be too difficult to do?
@cabdolla4 жыл бұрын
Miguel Teles watch part 1-3 of my videos. It’s not hard but it’s no easy either. If you can find an e36 in the junk yard go practice removing it there first before you do it on your own car.

Is this a planned out landing? Or what’s the story behind it?
@cabdolla4 жыл бұрын
Bill P our club had an annual land out seminar where we got an air tow to a dirt strip for the crop dusters that’s maintained-ish and just barely clear for the wing tips of the grob (the tall brush grows back quickly). The tow plane lands first and we circle and assess the field and then land and he tows us back. It’s to get experience landing in the dirt strips we have picked out for cross country. I think you fly in NV so you know there are no “grass fields” to pick, so all the land out spots are known and mapped and assessed each year to make sure they are still landable. Sadly I’m now in Texas and can’t do those glorious desert cross countries in the 10k+ altitudes 😭 Do you guys have a wave camp out there? I’d love to fly out and pay to attend if you do. Hopefully I can rent a ship out there.

Bill P thanks! I used some simple tape because the club ship did not have one. The other club cirrus had a really nice internal rotating mccready ring. I was going to buy one for the club and donate it but I wasn’t sure if it would fit (I thought it required a special instrument to hold it) so I made this poor mans version (and it works just fine!)

Hey man, just flew '18 today. reviewing your vids. I had a similar issue with pitch a few flights ago.
@cabdolla5 жыл бұрын
Hey Andy, I think part of it was not flying the cirrus for a while and then going back into it. The trick I discovered is that if you see the tow plane pop up in a thermal, pitch the cirrus down when you see the tow plane go up. When you hit that thermal a few seconds later, you will stay in position and not balloon way above him with full forward stick and still going up. Give it a try, it really works great. Have a great 2019 season, go fly over kit peak and take some nice pics!
@AndrewTubbiolo5 жыл бұрын
@@cabdolla I think you're right. When I had my pitch sensitivity, it was after not having flown a Cirrus for two months, and my previous flight was in a Grob. So that makes sense. It was so calm yesterday that I could almost be on tow without touching the controls on CG hook. It was crazy stable.

Tail not installed correctly to mate linkage?
@cabdolla6 жыл бұрын
I double checked the CG (by doing the calculation again using MATLAB software and the last recorded weight and balance and it was only 1/3 of the way forward by the aft limit - which is almost where you want it to be). I also looked at the throw of the tail, and that looked normal too. I think part of it was not flying the cirrus for a few months and having flown the Grob and PW6 once or twice between Cirrus flights, which threw off my mental calibration. I went back and flew again the next weekend after talking to some more experienced guys. They said in their higher performance ships, its not uncommon for them to also be at full control deflections on tow during rough days. What I found worked was that when the tow plane hits a thermal and climbs, to immediately pitch the nose of the cirrus down before the glider hits that same thermal a few seconds later. That way, by the time you hit the thermal after the tow plane and balloon upwards, you wont over shoot and be using full forward stick to get back on position. The pitch down control feels fine once the airplane is off tow, but this particular Cirrus has the stupid screw down friction lock on the trim lever. The other Cirrus has notches which makes it easier to adjust the stick forces.
@bkairys6 жыл бұрын
yes, My Cirrus has the Notch system for trim. glad it worked out!

On my sunroof, if it's open and then I close it all the way, the sunroof is perfectly flush with the roof, like it's supposed to be. However, if the sunroof is in the vent position and then I close it all the way, the sunroof doesn't return to being perfectly flush with the roof. Additionally, if I put the sunroof partially in the vent position (not all the way until the motor stops) and the fabric panel pushed all the way back, I can wiggle the sunroof up and down by pushing up on it from inside the car. But if I open the vent the rest of the way until the motor stops by itself, the up and down play in the sunroof completely goes away. In other words, my sunroof has up and down play/slack unless it is opened all the way. Even in the fully closed position, it still has up and down play. The total amount of play is very small, maybe 1/16", so I'm hesitant to start taking it apart since it works flawlessly in every other respect. I was thinking that at some point, the cables may have slipped or gotten out of sync somehow (previous owner, maybe?) so that there is always slack in the cables unless the sunroof is in motion or opened all the way. If there is slack in the cables, it could theoretically allow the sliders to move a very small amount independently of the cables, which in turn would allow the lifters to move up and down. If I remove the motor from the cables, can I move the cables one at a time to take up any slack and then put the motor back in (taking care not to turn the motor itself while it is out of the sunroof, of course)? Does this sound like a reasonable approach or am I looking at this completely wrong?

Not to bring this back from the dead but I had to remove my moonroof cassette this weekend on one of my 318tis. I swapped in the cassette from one of my other good working cars. The route cause of why mine stopped working was that when the headliner was redone the person used way too thick of material on the interior shuttle and also wrapped it completely around it. If you notice on a factory shuttle it is cut back about an inch on each side where the rails slide against it. On 318ti where the moonroof blew up there was way too much fabric I've discovered that bound it up. Luckily it looks like nothing but the bowden cables broke on this cassette. How do you remove the bowden cables?
