Hello Raymond. I got down with the help of two other pilots. My crash was close from the takeoff place, luckily.

How did you get down from the tree?
@pierrickz

Hi ! When landing in a tree with a paraglider, you can hardly break anything. But to climb down is very dangerous. A few other pilots came to help.

You made your mistake at 3:17 when you went to the right instead of following the cliff line left. Shows how fast things go wrong.

I see at 3:20 the right hand going down, and at 3:23 the wing effectively turns a few degrees to the right. At 3:24 the pilot want to turn left as its feet indicate, but the right hand is still very low. I cant see the left hand.

It happened to me, I was hanging halfway of the 60feet ridge. Inexperience caused the accident. I was able to lower down my height that allowed me to jump but unfortunately I end up almost breaking my feet and could not work for 3 weeks.

thermalling = ridge soaring? Not a pro but a speed-bar probably could have saved the flight.
@tkrafael
@tkrafael 9 жыл бұрын
+Ubaid Ahmed No need for speed-bar. Lift in ridge soaring exists few meters ahead the mountain. It's unnecessary to stay too close.
@ubialijuni
@ubialijuni 9 жыл бұрын
Rafael Nicoletti cool, I didnt know that bit. Thanks. Shane Idleman lol yea, it's just, the author of the video thinks he's thermalling and not ridge soaring.
@ubialijuni
@ubialijuni 9 жыл бұрын
Rafael Nicoletti isn't it a good idea though to have a speed bar on ridge soaring days anyway? I mean what happens when you are higher than the ridge and the wind picks up, you are not going to get anymore lift and it could push you into the leeside if it's strong enough? How do you counter that without a bar? Does flying crosswind help you get away?
@tkrafael
@tkrafael 9 жыл бұрын
+Ubaid Ahmed no, tipo just avoid this situation. however if this happen, go with full speed bar and leave compression zone asap

Guess you do not know the difference between thermal flying and ridge soring as that was what you were doing. Anyways never get behind the lift band when conditions are light and your scratching as you well know now huh?

+oracla Agreed. Last weekend, after 140 flights I hurt my knee. I thought that a parking lot was a better landing than a soccer field. I did a curve too low, lost wing pressure and colapsed/stalled the wing. That was cheap. I could broke my legs or worse.

Haha - I love it! This is 4 years ago so as you no doubt know you didn't weight shift away when you were scratching; I learnt to PG in 2008 and now have over 400 hours in places such as Pokhara, Porteville, Algo. Olu Deniz etc etc.. I love it man. I'm now teaching people to fly & i'm addicted - I live in KL (Malaysia) so if you ever pass this way it would be a pleasure to fly with you - thanks for sharing :-) and a message to your detractors - show your videos.... Thanks again - im drunk tonight but really enjoyed it - I've no doubt you know you f*cked up - we all do cuz :-) oh and a call to Sando - of course they're no thermals! He was f*cking lucky - hope you now fly clear - better change the title...
