Joseph is such an inspiration to me. I’m in tears right now lol My wife and I were both married before we got together. I had no children and she had 3 boys. I won’t ramble but I will tell you he got on drugs and abandoned his family. My wife and I have been married for 13 years and I never met the man, they should tell you enough. Point is I come from a very traditional conservative circle and it was hard as a man to know people are talking and scoffing behind my back. It hurt my pride. Also it is only through the Lord I raised and loved those boys. It was not easy and went against my flesh and pride in every way. We had two more boys together and I can tell you with all honesty I love all my sons the same. The oldest two grew up and are married and now I have 4 grandchildren of my own at the tender age of 42. It’s the biggest blessing in my life and when it was tough I thought about Joseph and what he sacrificed (pride mostly) and it helped me through. My point is not to pay myself on the back, it’s for any man raising a child who is not yours. If you cannot love them like your own either pray to God for the strength or don’t persue a woman with children. Those boys now call me father and it brings so much joy to me. Remember all the Lord has done for you as we celebrate advent and Christmas. God bless you all and MERRY CHRISTMAS!

@@HelloUSA87 Sharon has a beautiful voice. I have been part of a group that has performed Lamb of God every year for more than a decade, and I want to say that we had the opportunity to perform once with her singing as Mary. Each time I hear someone different sing, I am able to have new insights and feelings, but Sharon's rendition is still my absolute favorite.

I’ve always felt that Joseph was a great unsung hero in the history of this world. He was a flawed man who was called by God the Father to do something that no other man had ever, or would ever do. To raise the literal son of God. As a father, grandfather, and now a great grandfather, Joseph has become a hero to me. Thank you for writing and singing this song!

This is from a short film I found that portrays that perspective of Joseph as the father of the future Savior of the world. I agree. The message is so beautiful. There have been others who have commented on the historical inaccuracy and not been able to see beyond that. I can almost imagine such a conversation transpiring in heaven transpiring and the message remains as one that makes me think and feel gratitude for both humble men.

17th Jan, 2023. I been looking for this song for a very long time. Someone gave me a cassette 1996/1997 with Joseph song in it and I use to play it everyday to and from work. I cry every time. Do you know who was the artist who first recorded this song or was it you? I want a copy of this beautiful song. I lost the cassette long time ago and been searching for it until I saw your video on KZbin from google search. Thank you so much for uploading this beautiful song. I looked it up, and found a link to album information. The singer on this is named Gene Mumford. He was the primary soloist for almost all of the songs on the original album of The forgotten carols. There have been newer recordings with different vocalists, but I have always preferred the original album the best. You are completely entitled to your feelings, but your comment initially made me sad and then made me thoughtful since I take a very different view of this song and the short video about the homeless man. He may or may not be a meth addict. You are correct that Jesus certainly wasn't. Jesus may our may not have been "homeless" in a non-metaphorical sense. He certainly had many friends who cared for Him. I guess that's why I like this homeless guy so much. Where Jesus found a home among His disciples, those He could relate to and those who needed Him and accepted Him, this man--who on the surface gets labeled an addict and can't connect with ordinary people--chose to find his home with a fellow downtrodden peer who needed Him and accepted him with our without a fancy coat. Jesus often commented that the physician was for the sick and not the healthy. He broke bread with sinners. Homeless or not, He--like this disheveled man--chose to extend His home to those"beneath" Him who needed Him most. And that's why I think you are 100% correct in claiming He wasn't homeless. I'm not seeking to criticize or contradict your view. I just wanted to give voice to the thoughts you inspired in me with your comment. Thanks for watching and sharing.

What from the Forgotten Carols is this Zimmer song supposed to sound like? Perhaps I don't know the album as well as I thought I did. And are you sure it wasn't the other way around and Zimmer borrowing from McLean like he did from Holst's Planets on Gladiator? (Totally a tongue-in-cheek comment there :) but his use of Mars in that epic score was pretty liberal and undeniable) Personally, I appreciate both composers so I'm sincerely curious in the connection you identified.
