We are planning a Mojave ride and would love if you could share some route info? Seems you varied from the East Mojave Heritage Trail a bit. Some singletrack in there and you did a section from Primm to Vegas?

Ken was my dad and Tuff his best friend! They painted that on parker bridge when they were teenagers almost 50 years ago! My dad loved off roading and raced in his day! Cool Baja Bug!

awesome. I have wr250r. what kind of gas mileage did you guys get.
@kentuff5 жыл бұрын
We have 2.2 gallon tanks on the newer WRs and figure about 40 mpg. We sometimes carry up to 1 gallon. A lot of planning went into the spots to meet our gas tender Mark on a few of the days.

Were you aware that one of the five mailboxes is inside designated wilderness?
@kentuff6 жыл бұрын
YES. In my video, the 5th mailbox we visited is actually a "makeshift" replacement for the Friends of the Mojave mailbox #4 (not installed by FOM). You are correct -- the real 4th FOM mailbox is in Turtle Mountains Wilderness (only accessible by foot or horseback). FYI, from what I've heard, the real 4th mailbox is still there and in good condition ;D.

kentuff Yes, when some riding buddies and I visited it in the early 2000’s it was in perfectly good condition. As you know, they are quite sturdily constructed from steel and will probably be there for decades unless someone actively tries to destroy them. Back during that time frame I managed to ride pretty much the entire East Mojave Heritage Trail but I did it in bits and pieces, sometimes alone and sometimes with riding buddies.
@josephmeyer52136 жыл бұрын
kentuff BTW, I still have each of the four guide books and have also created complete GPS tracks and waypoints for segments one and two.
@kentuff6 жыл бұрын
Should have said in original post: "makeshift" replacement box #4 IS in legal offload area!!! My riding buddies and I only ride legal trails with street legal motorcycles. Joseph -- Very cool that you've experienced these awesome places. Not many people get out there. I'm sure you will agree that riding to all 5 boxes in 5 days was pretty cool.

kentuff Yes, I love the Mojave Desert. Especially the areas around the Preserve. Spent many, many days running all around that area on my dual sport motorcycles. And making it into a five day mega adventure is quite cool. When my buddies and I did it in the early 2000‘s, Garmin motorcycle mounted GPS units were just becoming available. I laid out a two day weekend trip from Amboy to Needles and back entirely on my computer just looking at BLM maps. The trip went off without a hitch just navigating through areas I’ve never been to using the GPS.

This singletrack trail, Bellyache Springs route, used to be part of the original Clark's Grade route to Big Bear. At some point it was abandoned for the current route. The part where the trail gets lush and sometimes wet is Bellyache Spring. The cars used to stop there and refill their radiators. If you look around in the brush you can find old pieces of rusty metal.

Thanks for watching. I put together this video so we won't forget the incredible adventure we enjoyed... After all, we're all over 50 at this point. I also wanted to share the trip with my family and friends that heard so much about the ride (blah, blah, blah).

Thanks Super... It's a lot of fun!!! It's a custom-built SCAT 2110 cc motor. The motor was built by Dave Rhoades out of Stanton, CA. Never had it dyno-ed, but I'm guessing 140 - 150 HP. The suspension is Fox shocks with King coils front and rear.
