Michael Crawford is probably the greatest artist Andrew Lyodd Webber ever hired for any role in his musicals. Michael Crawford was in musical films with Barbara Streisand like Hello Dolly etc, Acted with John Lennon in how i won the war film, Then Some Mothers do av em sitcom as Frank Spencer, Disneys Condor man. And thats only a tiny example of what he'd done for experience prior. Hes a phenomenal talent and versatile can act in any genre and be convincing and phenomenal. Id say Webber was extremely fortunate that someone as good as legendary as Michael Crawford Ageed to do The phantom musical. Crawford being a great talent for almost 30 years prior to the phantom of the Opera. He Owned it when he took it on. I dont believe anyone else will ever be as good as Michael Crawford he was a totally different level to anyone else doing Webber, Jason Donovan, Donnie Osmond etc. Crawford was always in another league.
