This young lady looks like she is using exactly what TEACHERMAN has been teaching and saying all along. Coil the back hip and leg and snap hard with the hands in front and the bat quickly breaks from the rear onto rotating the bat and hips.

hey i have a question anyone can answer to if they have an answer.. when i pitch should i keep my leading foot forwards? in the video you can see when they finish the pitch their front foot is pointing to the side, but my coach tells me to always point it to the catcher yet most times it makes me feel off-balance. so should i continue pointing my front foot to the catcher or to the side like them to help keep my balance?
@stirringthepot345
@stirringthepot345 Жыл бұрын
The hard part is about this is people have different pitching styles. If you have your front foot forward and you feel off balance try turning it to the side to see how that feels. Some girls will pitch straight forward towards the catcher while some turn side ways. How do you pitch?

REPLANT? There is NO advantage - It's a DRAG with NO power - whether the foot drags on dirt or air. She doesn't replant and reload. The DRAG (crow hop) foot doesn't do anything after the rubber to generate any power. STUPID ARGUEMENT - STUPID RULE AS WRITTEN EVERY PITCHER VIOLATES THE"RULE" IN SOME WAY.

I had my Dukes purple shirt on and was approached by numerous people, all who shook my hand and said how in awe of Alexander they were. They were good Oklahomans. She is an icon.

Are the commentators blind. Can we not all see the dirt mark on the ball that is going round and round. If there was any 12-6, 11-5 or 1-7 spin the dirt mark would disappear from view. If we want to teach perfect spin lets be honest to the audience. I don't believe you need prefect spin if you know how to control a pitch. Next thing you'll tell me is James Harden doesn't travel...........................

I guess we now have to re-classify what a rise ball is???? This is a fast pitch, thrown from low to high with a Bullitt spin. Bullitt spin stops the ball from dropping like a normal fastball. Does this make it a Riseball?? NO. Otherwise every pitch that doesn't drop like a fast ball is then a RISEBALL. Sorry to those that are claiming that this does have a little bit of Riseball spin. Well sorry not enough to truly call it a riseball. Again Nice UP ball with bullitt spin.........

All a rise ball is in softball is a high fastball…. It doesn’t actually “rise” it just seems like it does because it’s underhand. Still a hard pitch to hit. Same thing in baseball tho I would throw a high fastball and get people to swing and miss all the time it’s just even better in softball because of the “rising” effect.

Kelly Barnhill has never thrown a legal pitch, it’s a shame she was allowed to compete with legal pitchers. NCAA needs to enforce the rules. Crow hopping or replanting has ruined men’s fast pitch.

Wrong. That is NOT a rise ball! A rise ball has a 4 seam back spin. She is merely pitching high placement with no movement. Here is the physics of a rise ball. When a perfect rise ball is thrown it will have a four seam backspin. As the ball moves forward, the bottom of the ball experiences MORE (air) resistance. Additionally, the top of the ball experiences LESS (air) resistance. Objects move from MORE resistance to LESS resistance. And, in the case I have described, lift is generated due to the differences in resistance between the top of the ball and the bottom of the ball. The upward force is dependent upon speed (air speed which can vary with head or tail wind), RPM, air density (humidity), height of the seams (how big they are), and axis of rotation. This video does not demonstrate a riseball. Full stop. I am not saying the pitch you are teaching is a bad pitch, I am saying that you should start calling a spade a spade. There just aren't two ways about it, Dolly. Plane and simple.

Awesome video, and though experienced it was refreshing to hear theories I preach here on the Philippines Junior National Teams. One of the biggest that I constantly hear here, prompted by a certain level of macho, is "jump farther", out to that circle. And then it must be the girls fault that she has slowed down 5mph once she got out to 8 feet. They just don't get it that arm speed is tied into stride length (time). Rachel Garcia has pitch speed because she gets on top of her front foot quickly. An issue I also face here is pitching to corners. I had a former National Team coach tell me he tells the girls to adjust their release 1/8 of an inch to change corners, seemingly pre-empting any need for balance. I tell the coaches here to preach "line-of-force", driving everything, stride, arms, arm circle, step, and front hip into the catcher's glove and have created drills for it. Maybe you could touch on that issue a little. I teach everything, and I am not specifically a pitching coach here, just the general all skills coach.

happy8kiddo actually I do, my daughter is a pitcher and has been taking lessons from a former international pitcher and former college pitching coach. Her coach agrees. Driving out planting your drag foot and pushing again is a crow hop. It is illegal. Multiple coaches complained Barnhill’s entire career that she was crow hopping. The umps gave excuses that it was hard to see live. She is slick with it but it is illegal by definition.
