Great memories, thanks! If I could suggest, change the title photo to the CSL at 4:28 and watch the view-clicks go up. Cheers.

No matter how fast your car may be, none of us can outrun Father Time. Seems like only yesterday, but it's almost 50 years ago. Good times and fond memories! Thanks for posting.

I used to watch all the big races back then around corners 4 & 5 (I think).

Well, that brings back memories. I was on the inside of turn 9 with my new Super 8 camera filming all the Pacers rushing by. I wonder if I got your BMW. Don't know where the film is now. Thanks for sharing!

It looks very much like a 24 Hours of Lemons race today. There was a Gremlin, a Pinto, a BMW 2002 and a few other assorted BMWs, a Mustang, various old American sedans. The big difference is that Lemons is probably faster.

That Maverick vs Gremlin action was outstanding.

Nothing but good memories of that day's RS race. Nice job on the video. By any chance, do you have a video of the 1979 race?

Great memories of this event, it was the first Pro-Race I worked as a Flag Marshall. The BMWs were the class of the field.

Im super envious, not just of that you have the connections and skill, but thats theres race tracks in your country. Ireland has literally one and its just not good and dilapidated, I swear one day I will go to a bank for a loan and build the first proper racetrack in Ireland myself!!!! If you want something done, do it yourself has they say hahahaha

Looks like they had some speedy dry down on the course after someone dumped fluid in that section, also that is the new section between trurns 7-9 bypassing 8 since that area was being demolished

This was 1988 or so when they ran one year as Riverside Regional Raceway between the end of Riverside International Raceway and it was all replaced by shopping center and a housing development.

You start to see the same faces all over the country from Daytona to Watkins Glen to Riverside to Portland and Sears Point and Laguna Seca we covered the whole USA we even flew our cars to Japan to compete at Suzuka Circuit where we trounced the Japanese in class. Kent Racing built excellent race cars every one of the cars we built was a winning car at one time or another.Those were great times the economy was good people had money and jobs and were generally happy I think not like today.
@ericjkent12 жыл бұрын
I have never been out there since the track was torn up. Too depressing and the race track was the only reason i ever went to Riverside anyway. I was always working so while you were camping we were either thrashing all night to get the cars ready or we were Partying at the Mission Inn in Beautiful Downtown Riverside with an open bar and more women than you could shake a stick at. Pro racing had and still has Groupies just like rock bands do when you are at a different track each week .

Hey thanks for posting this I was a crew member on the 82 car which was Trinity Racing but the car was built by my Uncle Dave Kent. I also worked for number 79 which was Bob Bergstrom and that car was built by Dave Kent of KentRacing also. What memories!!!!!!

Great video John, thank you again. I'm now the proud owner of the #24 320. John has been gracious in sharing the video history of the car with me. On a side note, the car was built by Charles "Chuck" Cox (IMSA RS driver /owner) back in 1978 and was the first 320 brought in by Max Hoffman.

John, I'm really glad to see your posting here. Nice work. I ran a Solo I event in STA on 6-25-89. So I think you have the correct year for the revised track in its last "gasp". We may have shared the track at some point that year. I was the only AMC out there usually. I posted the youtube title AMC HORNET AT RIVERSIDE The revised track starts at about 4-minutes. What a great track - my favorite. Charles Smiley
