There is a line marked on I think the old Kaufman’s building downtown where there height of the water level was during the st patrick’s day flood of 1936.

My grandma and her brother floated on the door of their house until they got to higher ground during this flood. They lived right next the river on the north side where the water treatment plant is today. They went to bed and when they woke up the water was almost up to the second story of the house.

Idk if Bill can see this comment but thank you so much Bill for your insight on this important moment in history. I’d love to hear more about this topic. Is there a way to make a part 2? Four years later lol..

What a great lecture! I had no idea about so many of these accomplishments of my 5th great-grandfather. Growing up in PA and living on both sides of the state, I’ve encountred so many areas he has effected without even realizing it. It’s nice to have something like this to share with my children to reclaim these histories of our lost ancestors.

I feel I have more control using it two handed one hand on the arrow the other on the atlatl. I throw it way more powerfully and accurately that way. I can even use arrow without fletching and around 15 m using this method.

He spent the '70's testifying the evidence backed up the WC before he started cashing in as a conspiracy theorist. He lied about the condition of the recovered bullet, which is in a condition consistent with causing those wounds, He staged recreations of the shooting using two actors seated bolt upright, facing forward, and at the same level and plane, knowing full well that wasn't true.

During the 70s I received a chemistry set for Christmas. In the summer time I discovered a store that sold the chemicals for a chemistry set. It was cool, rather than sending in for new chemicals from the manufacturer I can just walk a half of mile and get it myself along with extra test tube beakers and a few other things.

Why do they need to include the film projector noise in a silent film? Was this dubbed in after? Why would the curator do that? How long has this film been available? How long has it been visible on KZbin?

Hello from Petrolia Butler County about 35 miles North east of The Steel City. Imagine what Parker East Brady and every other river town went through. Did they have any of the Lock Systems or The Kinzu Dam Built at this Time? Or did they did the Army Corp of Engineers build them after this flood to prevent it from happening again? Nothing better than Western Pa.

This must be from the 1975 or 76 field season. I recognize three graduate assistants from Pitt. Joel Gunn, David Clarke and Mark McCounahy (not quite sure on spelling). I was there in the field school in 1973 and 1974. It was one of the greatest experiences in my life with 50 years spent in archaeology

Was an amazing city, now it is just another blue liberal urban shithole with black racist DEI Soros mayor and useless government. Luckily, it is surrounded by conservatives with lots of 2A from McDonald and West Virginia to parts of regular Ohio and Indiana/Altoona to the east, bullshit sickness cannot win/break out of Allegheny County, although the corrupt Commonwealth of PA still is rooted and rampant in Harrisburg and Filthadelphia trash. PA is still a free state because of regular people with firearms.... Erie is still somewhat salvageable, but bordering on grief.

Blown away. I have studied and read collected books about Fort Duquesne and Fort Pitt, Forbes, Bouquet, Braddock, etc. for 40 years and never saw this depiction of Fort Duquesne with the extended barracks, and spread out. Also puzzles me why Grants defeat before the French blow the fort and withdrawal is not more clearly researched or told
