You lucky, I don't have a thumb on mine. I live in the mountains/ very steep hills and I was digging the hill to level a spot and around the 4th or 5th bucket of shale/ clay I was tossing over the side a 3-4 foot copper head fell out of the bucket and the next bucket as I was tossing it over the snake reached up and bit the bucket so I shock it off and the next bucket it did it again and so on then it started up the hill tword me so I flipped it back down but when it came and me again...... well let's just say I call it a flat headed snake and two days later I kept seeing another one so I must have hit the nest and pissed it off. I don't care for snakes but if they leave me alone I leave them alone and now I live there for three years and the only ones I see are the two little green ones my cats have gotten, they were only about six to eight inches long and so far I have not seen any other even though I live in the woods.

I always thought these types of rakes too all of the dirt and mud with em, guess not
@SaulCreekFarm200014 күн бұрын
You would think that it would take everything that it comes into contact with. The soil was fairly dry, and it broke up the larger dirt clods pretty well. It will start pulling soil if the rake has allot of grass and debris built up. We will have to see what it does when the soil moisture content is a little higher. Thanks for watching and commenting.

@SaulCreekFarm2000 I came to this video since I'm looking for a pull rake for my ATV in order to help to clean up any trash or leaves from my lawn, and the rakes that I saw like the one shown here, are meant to be dragged across the lawn, no wheels, just pulled across. But this video was of great used to me and convinced me to chose the dethreader for what I need (I'm in FL so the soil is NEVER dry) Thank you!

I actually had plenty of room for all the debris in the two dumpsters so no need to compress the load. And I was dumping on my property and not going on the road with it so I loaded above the rails which I wouldn't if traveling with it. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Why would you paint it? Get some orange primer for the rust spots. If its farm use, the orange will be easier to spot when someone leaves it in a field.
@SaulCreekFarm20003 ай бұрын
Actually painting the trailer is not for rust spots. We added a removable welding machine rack, an aluminum truck toolbox and racks for string trimmers, and pole saws for working around the property. Lots of burned orange paint and raw steel now. For anyone not modifying the trailer, the paint is still in good condition and could be used for many years with some minor touch-up paint here and there. Thank you for watching and commenting.

Do these trailers come with a title?
@SaulCreekFarm20003 ай бұрын
Yes, they do have titles. The way it worked for us is you purchase the trailer in the tool rental Dept. You get a receipt for the trailer purchase and they take all your info. It takes about two weeks for the title to come from HD Corporate office to the tool rental dept of the store you purchased the trailer from, they will then contact you to let you know your title came in. The trailers have up-to-date registration so you can use the trailer immediately. Thank you for taking the time to watch the video, much appreciated.

@@PriceActionResearch Ummmmm, I feel kinda stupid now. The back of the seat is fixed/solid and does not recline, it just slides forward and back. I looked in the manual, and all it shows is the seat sliding and the seat ride/cushioning adjustment. I called a guy I know who works at an equipment rental co. he says he's never seen a John Deere seat recline on any of their mini excavators. I could have sworn when my machine was being demonstrated by the salesperson he reclined the seat. Kinda disappointing but I can say after spending hours in this machine now 187 since Jan of this year the seat is somewhat comfortable. Sorry I didn't have anything to video for the seat.

I'm liking that 36inch bucket, I bought mine with a 24inch dig bucket, and a 48 inch cleanout bucket, I also purchased the thumb :) but its not a progressive link thumb :( though. I might go after the progressive link thumb next.
@SaulCreekFarm20003 ай бұрын
I love the 36" bucket. I wish I would have gotten a smooth bucket when we got ours for digging drainage. The 36" is great for digging and the 24" seems to work better for land-clearing with the John Deere Thumb. Ours is not progressive either but I wish it was. You do get used to the mechanical thumb though. Progressive is on the wish list.

Congrats on the new excavator, You will enjoy working with it. I have been using a 14K Goose to move it around when needed, slightly overloading the trailer even with an empty fuel tank, removing any attachments, and hauling separately to keep the weight down, just about to pull the trigger on an aluminum equipment trailer that will haul everything with no problem. Please let us know when you get some videos posted of your machine. It's always nice to know someone with the same equipment so if your ever not sure about how something sounds or is functioning correctly just yell. Thanks again for commenting.

Do you know what type of herbicide was affecting your bees? We have 4 hives and a bad mesquite problem. I have read that Sendero and Remedy are both supposed to be alright for bees
@SaulCreekFarm20006 ай бұрын
Hello Simon, That I know of none are scientifically proven not to harm honeybees long term. The problem I had was that the adjoining landowner hired a commercial AG sprayer to spray his fields. The day they sprayed the wind was gusting to well over 30MPH and they sprayed mid-morning. The drift from the spray covered the front of the hives and landing boards. As they sprayed mid-morning bees were out foraging and brought back contaminated pollen. By late afternoon many bees that made it back to the hive never made it inside and were dead or dying at the entrance or on the ground full of pollen. Within two days all the colonies that were close to the spraying were totally dead or had a just few live bees upon inspection. My advice would be that if you are going to spray do it later in the evening as foraging slows down and it can dry overnight. Don't spray if the mesquite is blooming. The spray will never touch the blooms as it's sprayed at the base of the tree, but the tree will soak up the herbicide which could in turn affect the pollen. Don't spray if anything at the base of the tree is blooming. The whole idea is to limit the amount of contact the bees can have with wet herbicide. Sometimes spraying is the only option and I think it can be done and not harm the bees if precautions are taken. Best of luck with the bees and mesquite.
