excellent video; this is one of the top problems i have with QC, as u said it looks "too busy", i'd say there are too many details that worsen my focus on gameplay itself; i turned all video settings off/lowest because it normally always gives best performance and enemy visibility; but here its not intuitive that u actually have to turn this thing on to lower textures! another key problem with QC is enemies are only highlighted instead od single colour like in QL or Q2; so this makes it much worse to track enemies; I'd love if there was an option to always see enemies just like Vysor sees them during his active ability; unfortunately this will never happen as long as their commercial model depends on skins, because they want you to see the skins; so this is clear conflict of gameplay optimization vs commercial optimization: they sacrifice gameplay to make more money

Like how well this games on most computers low settings that’s doesn’t seem to give it more players tho I’ll try this

What the original games had that worked to onboard new players was that high-level, small team, CTF matches were _not_ a common match type until much later in the game's lifetime. 90% of my time was spent in player-hosted matches with _dozens_ of players, often on homemade maps with modded weapons, in games that felt more like battlefield or planetside. New players had breathing room to figure out the movement and physics weapons without anyone depending on them to competently slot in to a predefined role. Sometimes you saw a tighter squad of friends working together, but there were still 10-20 other players on that side taking a different approach. _That's_ the play I get nostalgic for, not the e-sport style matches.

Want a free CoD clone? Well too bad, there are none! Those are all online DRM trash... WHY?! Seriously wtf, every free LAN shooter is just Arena/Unreal/Quake clones. The only one emulating CoD to an extent is AssaultCube Reloaded with loadouts, perks and ironsights. But since its the cube engine, the menus suck, the vanilla maps are cramped trash and the character models are terrible and overall outdated beyond belief. Then there is Red Eclipse, only similar to CoD because it has a 2 weapon loadout, but thats where similarity ends. The game doesnt even allow you to turn of the terrible hit sound effects. What a horrible time to be alive.

It's unbelievable, that there are still people who keep this veteran game alive. Back in the days, I was playing hours a day, and made my own mod, maps. It's crazy. I hope it will come back and becomes even better than QC. Honestly, I'd welcome a ranking system to have the chance to have some fun in the game instead of constant suffering from highly skilled players...

Quake I has always been a multiversal game. Quake II, not so much. Quake III, very much so. Wolfenstein and Commander Keen are linked via the Blazkowitz name. The Quake Shambler is actually a creature from Call of Cthulhu lore, where its known as a Dimensional Shambler.
