I don't totally agree!Yeah,Tom made it bigger in his head but I think Summer was also manipulative towards him.I think the truth is somewhere in the middle.

Some cool characters out of top of my head with red hair : Barbara and James Gordon are both brilliant super hacker/Batgirl and special forces veteran/detective fighting crime with Batman, Dexter, he is beloved in his community even if he has to hide his true self, then there is this one guy from the series The Unit, Mac I think, he has alcohol problem but other than that he is most elite soldier. Natasha the Black Widow she is cool character and a war hero, even though her assassin job would be bad in real life, April O'Neil is a badass reporter, Artemis from The Outlaws, she is an Amazonian warrior and hero, in Japanese anime and manga there are many great characters. In books you also have red haired cool characters one comes to mind right now from James Peterson's novel "Perfect Assassin" Med, she was raised to be a villain but chose to be a hero, even though her great grand daddy was a major villain in the setting.

People who defend summer don't understand that summer made tom feel what he actually wanted to if she knew she wasnt going for relationships or merraiege, and in process when she was with another man she should actually cleared everything before, if she isn't sure what she want then dont get other person involved in this too, this sucks!

I've been through something similar. The movie helped me realize that the girl I met didn't mean to break my heart... She was just a totally different type of lover. One who gets bored and excited like Summer; she is controlled mostly by emotions and infatuation. Her acquaintances second this. I, on the other hand, was like Tom in how I want(ed) something long-lasting and of commitment.

I always got shit for being a red head for like no reason. People in high school that I didn't even know would literally just look at me and say "ew" when I would pass them in the halls or in class. What's funny is that I've been told often enough that I'm attractive, but yet am still somehow the weird, nerdy outcast.

I agree, but lets be honest about the show as a whole. Bailey and George the ONLY main characters who were legit good people. Everyone else was more concerned bout furthering their career or who they could bang.

As someone with red (ish) hair, I’m usually the first one. But one thing I hate the most about how redheads are portrayed in media is that the women are SUPER flirty and mysterious, and a lot of the time try to sleep with the MC (usually so that the show writers can cause more drama).

As a ginger dude, I’m not super bad looking/don’t look over ginger so I’m not covered in freckles or some shit but it’s still terrible to have. Really effects your self confidence because it feels like no matter what you do you always will look like this. I’ve had a couple girlfriends in the past so it’s not like people think I’m ugly (I guess?)

What a stupid fucking take. Did you miss the part where summer strings him along knowing full well his feelings for her? You forgot she rants about not believing in love then gets married a few months later? She's full of shit and Tom is a fool but you're even worse whoever wrote this dumb crap

Even at the most WILDLY un-generous interpretation of the movie, Summer was not leading Tom on, if only because she warned him she didn't want a relationship *while still being interested in a relationship.* Like all those guys who are scared to attach to someone, Summer's avoidant, a thing which she works through gradually but which Tom pushing her about didn't help. As evidenced by her later happy marriage, she actually saw and loved Tom for who he was--she was sad because HE didn't love HER. And he didn't. He had no clue who she was. She was there, listening to him, paying attention to him, NOT in limerence for him--and he was in absolute limerence for her, projecting a fantasy onto her. Both of them seem to struggle with CPTSD, but Summer healed herself, whereas Tom punched himself in the face then blamed her for it.

I’ve never felt so seen in a character from a movie like summer. Like her view on love(kinda), and I rlly relate to one of her last lines about how she ends up feeling something with the guy she married that she was never sure with Tom(I think it’s one of my favorite lines from like any movie). The other day I watched this with my friend and saw how different our perspectives on this movie is, and that’s what I think is so cool about this movie, you are always able to find/ take something away from it every time you watch it.

This is why she’s a great character. She was written very realistically. When I say she’s a great character, that doesn’t mean she behaves well. But they really wrote her very good. At the start of the show, Rory is amazing though.

This was my ex. Entitled, emotional stunted and little to no interest in who I am as a person. When I shared something with him, he made it about himself. Culture tells women that general nice characteristics are a man being a good person. Hence he is entitled to be with his dream woman. The dark side of “just give him a chance” is it tells women that men are entitled to their time, bodies and energy. It doesn’t go in the other direction. The bar is so low they are tripping on it in hell.
