08/11/2024 Watching them sitting in the galley listening to the interview about the authorities crashing the operation and trying to stifle it. Just as today we are seeing Communications Act 127 getting citizens for expressing their views in social media, or simply liking a post, arrested. My how far Britain has come in 40 years.

Just watched the 1978 super 8 footage of Malta that you sheared and thank you for doing so. So many memories, 77 was the first time i visited Malta and in the day's many friends and family used to all go to Malta together, including all us kid's it was like a small happy army for a month or three weeks . All renting apartments and villas. I was hoping to see some footage of the Ta'casa farm house that was a great restaurant and gardens that had beautiful little sitting areas in the garden. Great BBQ with a show with a late disco and fireworks. What a great place that used to be in Qawra. I'm sure that was Peter Borg in the Black trunks in the footage at Golden Bay, the owner of the water sports cave. He was the guy in the come visit Malta advertisements water skiing. I visited Malta from the late 70s up until 1992 every year for no less than 17 days each time as you never seem to be able to do what you wanted to do the year before. 😅😂 Thanks for putting this great footage up !!! Why are comments switched off ???

Absolutely loved this video! I'm a child of the 60's, born in 65, and the music of this era has been with me my entire life. Best of all - this was so much fun - at times I was crying with laughter! What a great bunch of guys.

Funny the very institution who was against pirate radio, BBC because of their inept refusal to broadcast pop music of the time, are promoting the anniversary of the very radio stations they fought hard and wide to prevent broadcasting...lol. The Beeb was run by a load old fuddy duddies at the time of those wonderful pirate radio ships.

Yep, it always good as well to hear stories of pioneer stations like the pirates. It was so romantic, and also exciting, the things those announcers got up to to put their programs to air. Sometimes verging on the dangerous too in those rough seas trying to repair antenna masts. But they survived that danger. Sadly legality forced them off air, but in the long run, stations like land locked Radio Jacky had the last laugh getting a real licence. That was a triumph.

This wasn't Banger racing, it was Super Rods, the incident took place at the 1986 Ipswich Spedeweekend. I am in touch on social media with one of the drivers involved so will ask what kicked it all off if he will tell me!

Nice simple setup for film to video conversion and the explanation on the conversion. Don't you have synchronisation problems (intensity differences) due to the 18 frames per second of the original tape to 25 frames per second of your camera? Don't you have the overall e tra brilliance in the centre in regard fo the outersides of the frame. These two issues are broadly mentioned by other persons that do film to video conversion using this method.

As long as you stick to the frame rate...18 for Standard 8mm & 24 for other films...it's ok...if you get the frame wrong...the picture wabbles, also I have a SPOT LIGHT setting which dampens down the HOT SPOTS! Many thanks for your comments. Kind regards Robin
