The vast majority of wargames I play are set in WWII, but am currently learning GMT's Rebel Fury.
@WARdROBEPlaysWWII11 күн бұрын
RF is fun. That first learning scenario seems pretty one sided bit good for learning the rules. I e only played it a couple times.

Is it possible accepting the lower odds is meant to reflect a probing attack? That would explain why the worst result is attacker retreat

The campaign game for this folio set is always fun, with all four maps and the additional command rules. Definitely recommend giving that a play if you haven't!
@WARdROBEPlaysWWII22 күн бұрын
Ok thank you.
@davidwhitehouse61522 күн бұрын
The command rules make a big difference. In the DG later version you can use the command rules with the individual scenarios. This make a big difference and really restricts French options in this scenario. Thanks for these videos, enjoying them!

Combined arms shifts one on the CRT… Also by playing the Campaign you can only activate Corpses with active Commanders and the Prussians can not do everything with their Commander ranges. NLB was my first wargame ever back in 1978. I played the full 4 map campaign game several times. These days I like Fading Glory - Waterloo (GMT) more because it is much shorter as a campaign and gives the same vibe.

I have not played Ligny on my channel yet. It is one of the games that is on the poll on my channel Community tab for a Napoleonic game for me to play in 2025. Vote! I will let you in on a "secret" ... I tend to eliminate far more units at 1-1 or 2-1 than I do at 3-1 ... 😲

This was my very first wargame, which I bought in '65/'66 with my allowance savings. I may be wrong, but I believe that it cost me less than $10 at a high-end retail department store. Great game, and lots of fun playing it.

Ooo purple box SL, nice, I don't even have a purple box SL. Still have all my original SL and expansions, including a unpunched GI, like new condition. But I have absolutely no interest in ever playing it again, it's far surpassed by ASL, I'll never get rid of it, too many good memories.

I love ASL but I would have been just as happy if they'd consolidated the original four books into a single coherent book instead.
@WARdROBEPlaysWWII29 күн бұрын
i was reading something in that General Magazine and John Hill said he was embarking on combinging all 4 into an Advanced SL ruleset and that it was expected in a year. Oh boy, did it ever become advanced.
@CategorySolo29 күн бұрын
That's what the Starter Kit series got right - each box has the full rules, and they clearly highlight what has been added since the previous game. If they'd done that with SL I think it would've eased the complaints somewhat
@charleslatora575029 күн бұрын
I'll be honest, I've got the first three original squad leaders and I don't know when I'll ever get back to them. And mine need counter cleanup too
@WARdROBEPlaysWWII29 күн бұрын
Counter cleanup for this game series is a hobby in and of itself.
