The documentary is stunning. The research is impeccable. There is no book or documentary at this scale for any nation or civilization, ever made. Well done.

Thank you for this video. It is an interesting perspective. I still have a bias towards technology. Steven Pinker has written a good book about the broad trends in humankind which indicate that life is getting better on many dimensions.

This is an intelligent signal code, indeed. The leaders of the armed forces raise their right hand to signal their troops to stop and wait for the next signal. This mother must be signalling her babies to stop and wait. Wow.

is there any single thing in last 3000 year of indian history , that we should be proud of ? or we just have to be ashamed of everything ? is there any single thing that hindus have done good ? is there any single thing which hindus can be proud of ?.

@kaceobrwa7039 Oh, there is so much to admire in India’s past, which I do throughout my web series, starting with the Harappans and continuing with the Charvakas, Buddhists, Hindus, and others. Since you specifically asked about Hindus, it’d help to first define what "Hindu" and "Hinduism" mean to you. Historically, the legions of ancient peoples and diverse folk traditions we now club under "Hinduism", bubbled up many things from the grassroots, including reflective spiritualities (e.g., meditation, yoga); a relatively egalitarian, sex-positive culture (e.g., of Tantrism); a pacifist religious pluralism (e.g., of Bhakti); women-friendly norms like matrilineality (once common); the sculptural masterworks of its artisanal guilds; and conscious environmental stewardship (e.g., of many Adivasis). What's not to like here?! 😊 If by Hinduism you mean its elite strata-of Brahminism with its scriptural apparatus-then yes, it’s harder to find things to admire in it (steeped as it became in social hierarchy, patriarchy, asocial ethics, aversion to manual labour, etc.), but one can still appreciate its theological non-dogmatism and syncretism, and the intellectual achievements of many individuals in it. But this otherwise baneful layer of Hinduism cannot / should not be equated with all of Hinduism. So you see, depending on your perspective, one can indeed take pride in many historical developments / features of Hinduism.

I was at the Castro festival in the early 2000s, some costumes were really good, I remember a group of people dressed up as characters from South Park really detailed costumes, perfect scaled up versions of the cartoon characters.

You somehow forgot to mention that Maputo was only recently named Maputo. Since 1544 or therabouts it was named Laurenco Marques. So much for historical issues . . . .

I don't plan on buying his book after reading his article in the Wire. He was certainly cherry picking facts to suit his narrative. Other than Ad Hominem for the opposing viewpoints, he doesn't present much. Also, he just assumes that the facts he's quoting are true just because there's 'consensus' among western scholars. Consensus is not proof. History is not a hard science like math or physics. There're a lot of assumptions and circular reasoning where people create models with a lot of underlying assumptions based on archeology, genetics and linguistics, etc. At the end of the day, they're just models which are open to scrutiny and improvement until there's concrete proof.

Zimbabwean troops spent years fighting Renamo bandits who crossed into Zimbabwean border towns ransacking and looting shops. But most importantly they were protecting the Beira oil pipeline and trucks with Zimbabwean Mechanized units. On the other hand during Zimbabwe’s war for independence many freedom fighters were accommodated in Chimoio and other cities Salut Viva Aluta continua Mozambique 🇲🇿

Not true,Zimbabwe didn't fight RENAMO on the contrary RENAMO was formed by the then RHODESIAN Special Banch, with assistance of SOUTH AFRICA to cause the FRELIMO government to fall.A large number of the original RENAMO were in fact trained in RHODESIA. At the same time the Rhodesian government fell Mugabe took over, and RENAMO was left alone in Mozambique, outnumbered, out gunned they entered with a piece acord with FRELIMO,and shared power,RENAMO exists to this day ( a political party) and take parte in the government.
