I dunno why Google didn't just make a Quick Share app for Apple iOS and MacOS like on Windows. Sure it'll be nerfed on iOS but it's taking the initiative and putting it in the hands of Apple users to get onboard with cross platform stuff. Apple will never do this and would probably work to try further limit, But the more all other companies interpolate the better it is for competition and the end user. To choose your device on it's merits and have it work across brands is a key ability. Apple intentionally the opposite should be exposed and this does it best.

I have tested the "Find nearby" option quite rigorously with my two non-Google Android devices. For me the option would say "It's here" even if I wasn't near the device at all like in a separate room At times the option to "Play sound" would just not work and you would have to try using it again and again until it worked. It would be better if the "Find nearby" option was always present so you could have your phone constantly checking for the device's Bluetooth signal as you walk around the place since you have to mash the refresh button and such or just wait for the phone to pick up the Bluetooth signal to get the option. Also the email that you get about the device being found doesn't contain any other useful information such as the location it was spotted and just leads you to the Help Center for finding a lost device.

So I have a question I've been searching for and searching for let's see if I can get it out. So let's say I lose my keys in a park nearby park. A big residential area lots of people, lots of Android phones. If none of those phones have the find my device app installed, will they still be able to ping My keys.? The reason I asked. I checked my daughter's cellphone and she does not have to find My device app installed on her android phone, so will she not be able to ping my Bluetooth key slander?

@BBTechBreakdown 3 ай бұрын
So this network (as with other networks) requires that the person be a part of the network. In the case of this network (as with apples) you are typically automatically opted in but you can choose to opt out. So in short, since she doesn't have the app I'm assuming she won't be a part of the network and therefore won't be able to ping it. She likely opted out of Google find my device at some point. So not every android user will be a part of the network (as with apples network, not every iPhone user is part of it) but since it is on by default, once this rolls around worldwide then a good portion of android users will have it (not sure on the exact numbers). Another factor to consider is changing your settings on the Google find my device app to find your device with network in all areas. This just means even if there is one devive in the network it will be used to located the device. Does this help at all?

Sadly you don't mention or discuss the cons. 1st it's again a new method that tries to take over existing ones like the find functions of Samsung or Xiaomi, thus weakening them instead of strengthen the function together. 2nd turning this on means yoyr phone will never turn off completely again, thus waisting battery even when turned off - not good for storing away any (old) device but resulting in an empty LiIo battery which is worst scenario for battery life. 3rd when I last used Google version it was build completely user unfriendly about "being followed" alerts by tags. To make senses there has to be a whitelist of your own or known tags to avoid false alerts So you should upgrade your videos to take this into consideration. I e.g. will not change my Samsung Find function for Google till this is solved by Google

Please provide any extra info I may be missing because I don't personally own a Samsung or Xiamoi phone 1: there's a couple things to this part - to my knowledge you should still be able to take advantage of both of you have for example a Samsung phone. Does it make you pick one or the other? - Also, Is there any evidence that Google's network effects Xiamoi or Samsung in a way that inhibits their networks from operating how they should? - also, I think what we should want is Google implementing this rather than leaving it all up to each phone manufacturer. Sure those phone manufacturers can implement their own thing, but if you can make the network that much larger by using androids system rather than one phone manufacturer I think that's good. The issue as of now is that Google hasn't fully rolled out the network AND there's still missing features such as UWB (although it seems they are paving the way for that due to APK teardown). So hopefully as googles new network matures, rolls out to everyone, and gets all necessary features then the combined network of all android users would be stronger. And again, people should still be able to use those networks of Samsung and Xiamoi if they choose 2: I dont think this is a legitimate concern. - this technology uses an incredibly low amount of power, hence why such small devices such as Airtags can have battery life up to a year. That is one of the main advantages of this technology. - also if you know you're gonna store it away for that long of a period it's probably best to reset the device anyway 3: Ive never been alerted of an unknown tag following me so can't say much to this. I do know that apple and Google use the same DULT spec, so the technology behind detecting unwanted tags should be the same

Next, tap on "About Phone", then look for "Software information" & tap on it. 3. Look for "Build Number" & tap on it 7 times. If you got a Lock screen password, type it in & you will get a toast message that says "developer mode has been turned on". On other Android devices that are not from Samsung, it may say "you are now a developer" or "you are now in developer mode". That will tell you you have unlocked Developer Options. 4. Go back to the main menu of the settings app on your Galaxy & under the "About Phone" section, there's a new entry called "Developer Options" & tap on it. There are things that iOS does better than android and vice versa. But I think there are some things that are objectively easier and more intuitive on Android and think it's helpful for many who may not know or be familiar with Android to see it's not scary.

This is a misconception that has been carried on from a decade or so ago. Android phones today, even budget ones, are far easier to get used to than iPhones. Last time someone told me my phone sucks because it was an S20 Ultra and not an iPhone I asked why that was and she said because iPhones are easier to use and everything just works. I told her that if she wanted something that simply works for what? Phone calls? Texting? Because any cheap Motorola can do that. She didn't have a come back other than iOS is better.

Hahaha. Yea, I find it so odd how confident many people are that iPhone is just so much better but really the only reason they think that is because they've never tried anything else and the marketing has convinced them. Not sure how it is elsewhere, but this is certainly true of many Americans

Anyone claiming ios is easier to use is bleeting crap Anytime they are asked they simply just swipe around the homescreen and say yes ios is easier to use. Bruh like i can't swipe across homescreens on Android 😂 Even setting up ecosystem features sucks compared to android. On android there is a dedicated section called connected devices where you can setup all ecosystem features On ios, to get i. messages on other apple devices you have to go to message settings ii. receive calls on other devices, you have to go to call settings iii. To handoff, you have to go to general iv. Carplay, you have to go to general This is just an absolute mess iOS has its advantages like better app integration, but ease of use is far from one of them

Additional info: A helpful commenter pointed out that the lack of replacement battery is due to soldering on the battery to make it thinner. However I still think the vast majority of people should avoid this one and choose Pebblebee because their card is rechargeable and has other features such as LED light, a little better water resistance, and supposedly longer range Bluetooth. However the specific scenario where the Chipolo card point may win is if you really care about getting it to be the absolute thinnest as possible. The pebblebee card is very thin, but the Chipolo one has the advantage of being a little thinner. So the one case I would say not to avoid this one is if you prioritize thinness over all else (or if you like that the battery lasts 2 years vs Pebblebee's which you need to recharge every 1.5). Everything else the pebblebee card does better imo.

The card version uses a slimmer battery so it can fit in a wallet without causing it to bulge our. The battery used can't be bought and needs to be soldered in..

Yea I see what you're saying about why it couldn't be replaceable. But Pebblebee's card is rechargeable, which I think would make sense to purchase for most people still. The Chipolo one is slightly thinner than pebblebee which could be a reason to purchase, but Pebblebee's is still very thin and rechargeable. It's the only tracker that's available now that doesn't have a replaceable or rechargeable battery and I don't think that's very obvious up front at all, so that's the main reason this (Although the title may be a little exaggerated).

Thanks for letting everyone know! I felt bad about getting the air 5 for my nephews just shortly before the air 6 came out. But after watching the reviews, I felt better since they said there was not much difference and upgrades so I felt better. I think the biggest upgrade is the M1 to M2 chip, the other options for more storage and the 13 inch screen. But that is pretty much it so I don’t think it was much of an upgrade so not worth upgrading.
