I thought about getting the Polar Express in HO, but I don't like talgo trucks. I'd have to convert all of 'em to body mounted Kadee's. Instead I'm buying some Atherarn and MRC engines. Cheers from eastern TN

Their passenger cars are easily convertible, you need to get the body mount coupler box and extended screw on Lionel's parts department website

I fw this heavy. Say, did you see they released an updated version of the set? New locomotive has a slightly tweaked design and new sounds. They finally fixed the chuffing.

I would say it depends on the pros and cons. Like space, availability for parts, layout ideas, etc

Yeah that “add on coach” kinda pissed me off a bit, because are you seriously telling me that Lionel couldn’t change SOMETHING to make it different? I mean, they already managed to sell 3 add on cars with the same tooling, surely they could just change the silhouettes in the windows to at least not have the characters from the movie and just have black silhouettes.

Yes, be careful. The wire to plug into the tender is very delicate. Lionel is phasing out the magnelock tracks if you look at some of the reviews on their website for the Polar express Lionel responded back to an upside customer and stating that they are discontinuing the magnet tracks I have two sets one with the magnet tracks and one with the one that you’re featuring here

I can’t wait to see the full train, or better yet, get it myself. I’d probably run the set in the order of baggage car, combination car, puppet car, dining car, hot chocolate car, coach car, 20th anniversary car, observation car.
