OMG 😱 two critical errors. Never do two things to a tree in the same season, wire or replant. Never touch the roots when the tree has leafed out. This is a simple way to the death of the plant.
@DotPotCeramicsКүн бұрын
In principle, I would agree with your view. But - if you watch the video again carefully, you will notice the following: 1. I always show the trees months after styling/repotting. So - I haven't had a bonsai die for a very long time. 2. in the last 30 years I have repotted and shaped / pruned about 50000 bonsai. About 30 different species. I think there is enough experience to show something like this here. So - relax a little. Maybe I will make a video in summer to show you the trees from all the video's again.

Beautiful kiln! How many m2 of wood do you use for one firing?
@DotPotCeramicsКүн бұрын
It depends of the temperature. For glaze firing at 1200°C I need approx. 1-1.2 cbm of wood. Similiar to the volume of the firing chamber.

Was kostet denn so ein "starter material" (timer 02:27) wenn man innerhalb Deutschlands einkaeuft? abholt? oder per UPS? Suche auch nach ner Liste von Acer Palamatum z.B. Nakakamado
@DotPotCeramicsКүн бұрын

Up to 80cm you can buy such pots in our shop: www.bonsai-shop.com/en/bonsaipots Bigger pots - maybe you must import it by yourself. Or ask an importer in your neighborhood to help you with import. In normal shop such big pots are rare to find.

@DotPotCeramics4 ай бұрын
Hi Thomas - you can get most of the tools in any online pottery shop (I buy from Keramik Kraft, Carl Jäger, Wolbring, for example). You can get small items cheaply from Temu. Video about tools: Maybe later, e.g. about the sheet metal angles for smoothing edges. I'll be back in China in September. I'll be filming some potteries in Yixing, about the production processes of the various techniques.

can you give us some evidence when you say people think Chinese bonsai is of poor quality.. where did you get this perception from.. Bonsai originate from China.. you are spreading hate.. you are only propagating what the collective west wants the rest of the world to think of China.. this disgusting on your part..
@DotPotCeramics5 ай бұрын
Regarding your question: We have been selling bonsai to all EU countries for almost 25 years. And we have been importing all our bonsai from Japan and China directly from the countries of origin for many years. In most years 1 container from Japan, 1-2 from China. As I select the bonsai in these countries myself before importing them, I have a very good overview of both the quality of the bonsai in Japan and China and the customers' opinion of the quality. I can see that our customers usually rate bonsai from Japan higher than bonsai from China. This is probably because most customers have no idea about the reality in Japan and China. They only see the trees in Europe. And here in Europe, the cheap trees are mostly from China and the high-quality, expensive trees are mostly from Japan. This is partly due to the fact that many bonsai from China (e.g. pines, junipers) are not allowed to be imported into Europe. Of course there are also low-quality bonsai in Japan. And there are also very high-quality bonsai in China. For example, you can see very good bonsai in the Shanghai Botanical Garden. And you can also see many very high-quality bonsai in China in the video. I will keep it short: I made the video to show that there are also good bonsai in China. And - mid of september 2024 I visit China again and after that trip I will upload a video about the bonsai in the Botanical garden in Shanghai. So - relax a little, watch the video again and next time think a little before you criticise someone so harshly.

Do you think having a bargain section of damaged pots for sale in which the customer knows he/she is buying damaged pots for a cheaper price a bad thing for your business?
@DotPotCeramics5 ай бұрын
No - this makes no sense in my opinion. An example from the car maker business: If a luxury car maker like Ferrari sell cars with little problems it will loose all other customer in a short period of time. Because nobody will trust the brand if they are doing such things. But don't worry: I think in the next years the rate of mistakes will drop down. We are beginners.

How old are they when they get imported from Japan?
@DotPotCeramics6 ай бұрын
It is very difficult to give you an exact answer. When I choose bonsai in nurseries in Japan, they have already been cultivated in many other nurseries before. Usually no one can tell me how old the trees are. This means that the stated age of most bonsai that you can buy outside of Japan are rough estimates.

i need help in pottery for bonsai i really need to know the type of clays and cone to fire them.
@DotPotCeramics7 ай бұрын
At the moment I use clay which is frost resistant after firing at 1200-1220°C. As far as I know it is cone 5.5 to 6. The glaze melt at the same temperature. I fire the pots in an electic kiln or wood fired kiln.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge! Could you tell us what is the last layer after kanuma soil?
@DotPotCeramics7 ай бұрын
The soil layer on the surface we add only for the color. We don't like the color of kanuma. The surface soil is a mixture of peat and expanded slate. Another advantage is that this layer hardens better than Kanuma. This makes it easier to pack and ship the bonsai in a parcel without the soil falling out of the pot.
