how has this held up with mold and mildew and how hard to clean and keep clean?
@TheHiddenHomestead5 күн бұрын
Like everything, it’s held up pretty good so long as we do our part and keep on top of it. That said, It needs to be kept up more than a typical shower but of course it’s not a typical shower. So, about three to four times a week we just spray it down with a 50/50 solution of vinegar/water after a shower. Then, every other week or so we clean it. We use a powered wand with a soft bristle brush to scrub it down with that same 50/50 solution.

Statistically speaking, you are much safer in an airplane than driving on the highway. For example: Lets say I was traveling from Chicago, Illinois to Orlando, Florida. there are less turns and less people in the way than on ground travel. I've only been on a plane once. So just making a point.
@DragonPriest5889 күн бұрын
And there are less risks to being a passenger on a plane than driving and being assassinated in a auto accident.
@TheHiddenHomestead8 күн бұрын
I don’t know about there being less risks. Statistically speaking, you have a higher chance of being forced to listen to a stranger tell you all about their cats. There’s also a much greater risk of catching the man cold while flying apposed to driving. Anyway, I also have a video catered towards traveling in an automobile. The point is, no matter what means of travel you take, you should always be prepared. Thanks for the comment!

How long will it take to get the smell out of my house lol its 10 degrees out so i couldnt do it outside
@TheHiddenHomestead14 күн бұрын
That’s a good and tough question! Tough because I did it in my workshop where there’s so many other fragrances to help mask it. Also, I didn’t mind the smell of it so I didn’t pay it too much attention. That said, the jacket itself had the smell for a couple of weeks as it cured. I would assume your home wouldn’t be any longer than that. I did hang mine in the laundry room to help it cure as the temps dropped here as well. I know that is much different than doing the whole process but if I remember correctly, the smell was gone after a few days unless I walked by the jacket itself.

That said if you need general info on the mix design right now, I have that on my Patreon under the vertical concrete 1 and 2 tier. But I would wait for the full explanation in the e-book and video series that is on the course. Far better value in my opinion. I get blantons when I can because it is very hard to come but at retail price. So when it's $80 I grab it. I enjoy it but I would take four roses over it. Also I have a bottle of blantons gold that is way better than regular blantons. It's harder to find period though.
@TheHiddenHomestead2 ай бұрын
Yes I agree it is good. However, here in lies the problem. As you said, when you can get it. There are so many other offerings almost always available that I would argue are much better than Blantons. But of course that’s subjective. The best whiskey is the whiskey that you like and how you like to drink it. Cheers! 🥃

So the braces are held in place by a screw and a peg?
@TheHiddenHomestead2 ай бұрын
Yup. That is correct. It’s not a true timber frame. It’s post and beam construction which uses timber screws to fasten everything.
@christopherlynch43472 ай бұрын
@TheHiddenHomestead post and beam uses joinery for strength, if those braces had been notched in even an inch or two you would have a significantly sturdier construction. But I do appreciate the aesthetic here.

You should use Beeswax, Linseed oil, and Turpentine; then it's all natural from tree and hive.
@TheHiddenHomestead2 ай бұрын
True. I thought about that actually. Especially considering I usually try to do things using simple material. That said, the microcrystalline is a better wax than bees wax for this application in regards of longevity. Due to the chemical makeup of it, microcrystalline remains flexible apposed to becoming hard and brittle like beeswax once it’s cooled. This keeps me from reapplying it so often since most beeswax coatings eventually flake and ware off.
@mobarnhart522 ай бұрын
Amazing, thank you for posting. What does a project like this run?
@TheHiddenHomestead2 ай бұрын
This video doesn’t show the completed process with the carved stone finish. The structure itself (like in this video) is about $25-$30 per sq ft depending on the access. I left it rough because I knew I was overlaying it. If you wanted it finished smooth it would be $35-$45 per sq ft. The carved stone overlay is an additional $60 per sq ft so $85-$90 per sq ft completed. This of course is based on the cost of where I live and will vary quite a bit depending on your location.

Hi ! Great video, and appreciate the follow-up as well. I am planning to this to my boat yard-jacket and have a question: most people just use wax (pre-made or a mix of beeswax and styrene). How come you use a mixture of wax and oils? Is it more durable?
@TheHiddenHomestead3 ай бұрын
Hey! To be honest, I actually copied another KZbinrs recipe so can’t take credit for it. He did a video on the science behind everything and how it all works together. Check out the link for that video in my video’s description. He does an outstanding job explaining the why behind it and it is a better explanation than I would be able to explain it here. That said, yes it is very durable. After my follow up and reapplication video, i’ve not had to do anything with it.

First time I've heard a waxed jacket actually are waterproof of repellent at all. By my experience it's very far from it even with 3 layers of wax. So you must have put some real heavy layers on it.
