As beautiful as this car was, it was also slow. In addition to carrying a bloodstain from a great pilot, who left us too soon

Tire barriers need to be a few feet from the actual wall so the car can drag them a bit. It would make a huge difference in peak Gs

This car debuted way too early at Mastercard’s insistence, and they paid dearly for it

Forti needed more money, that's all. That team was there on a $17 million dollars budget when Ferrari was spending $120 million and that budget was going to almost triple in the next 10 years. But I like their cars.

I actually think they had a half decent chance of doing well if they'd had the year to properly develop and understand the car, instead MasterCard rushed them in a year early 🙃

Mastercard ruined it all for Lola. They was gonna get it all ready for 1998. But instead they said, get on the grid for 1997, or eles we will not pay anything to you! What kind of a stupid sponser would do that? Only Mastercard. More like, StupidCard.

MasterCard later sponsored the Jordan Grand Prix between 1997 and 2001 after this disaster with F1 Lola Cars

It was the only car compliant with the rules. All others should have been disqualified so this Lola Mastercard was the true World champion F1 of '97.

@adrianzanoli9 ай бұрын
Tbf, Minardi and Jordan survived by spending a lot less than Arrows under TWR. Tom Walkinshaw built a huge new HQ in Leafield with wind tunnel, bought Brian Hart's company to develop in-house engines, hired expensive figures such as Hill and John Barnard, bought Prost GP assets for 2.5M in order to try the failed Phoenix scam...

Why are/were there ''pay'' drivers in F1? Can someone explain? why would someone pay to drive an F1 car, what do they get out of it other than driving in F1? surely they wouldn't pay to just be able to race? what is the reason? is there advertising, or do they own then part of the team like it just doesn't make sense to me.
