Consider this a consumer warning. Mohawk carpet warranty is meaningless. If you have windows in your house, the sunlight voids the warranty. Yes even in the Pacific Northwest where sunlight is elusive, it can fade your new carpet in less than a few years. The company claims the 20+ year fade resistance doesn't cover any sunlight.

Is there another method that doesn’t require me to buy a carpet brush/comb? I am currently unable to buy anything and will have to resort to using homemade/diy methods. I would really appreciate it. Thank you
@TaylaKelly-q4x25 күн бұрын
So something I just figured out myself after buying one of these and I do it for the stairs. Anything with hard plastic Bristles will do the job, can get something like this cheap if you don’t have it lying around the house, exact same results. I’m sure even a hair brush would work 😂 though it’s temporary, better if you do it and then wash the carpets and then do it again, will stay fluffy longer

If no carpet cleaner, use baking soda and salt, they explain on Google how to do that, think it would help better for the matted carpets

If it is at the bottom of a flight of stairs you might not notice the odor until you start to go up them. Contrary to belief it can be removed from various things. It is just a matter of how deep it is in and that may make it much harder to get it all out.

Soniclean is the worst for Mohawk Smart Strand carpet. If you have arms like Atlas it works, but it takes two arms to push it over my carpet. Would not recommend it!!

I have an S code coach and I can see in the couch that at the top there is brown stuffing can I use water on that or should I use the solvent?
@kimberlymcdonald41845 ай бұрын
I have a 100% poly couch, but it’s fuzzyish not flat if that makes sense. It has a S code….but poly should be W correct?
@Rendallscleaningmi4 ай бұрын
Yes, typically if you have a poly couch it should be W. Sounds like maybe it's microfiber? Most couches we see have an S code no matter the material. It's actually pretty rare for us to see a W. That's why we always test to see how it reacts to hot water extraction first. If it starts browning or if the fibers look distorted, then that will tell you that it's a no-go.

how do you clean something with a W code? I think it is 100% polyester.
@Rendallscleaningmi4 ай бұрын

@SingingAesthi6 ай бұрын
I found out my furniture has code S too late. It’s polyester that smooth and feels like suede .. and it has foam. All on the arm Cole zero or tea was spilled on it and I used cold tap water and way too much and saturated it immediately and it left a three foot long water stain. The fabric white wet but I couldn’t get the water off with towels because it wouldn’t absorb through it. I don’t have a warranty
@Rendallscleaningmi4 ай бұрын
If it's polyester, it should clean up with water based cleaning. With stains like tea (or coffee, Coke), they tend to come back when dried. It sounds like you might just have to keep repeating your blotting process until it all comes fully out. Is there a way to weigh down something on the towel? That way it will absorb into the towel. Using a proper stain remover will help too.

does the carpet cleaner make the water any hotter while plugged in (the rentals) . i know steam cleaners require COLD tap water and it will heat up the water to 250*F , but was wondering about if if the hot tap water gets heated up in the reservoir.

Unless they're carrying the portable in with one hand or it has something like Rug Doctor printed on it. Then, perhaps you should tell them to take a hike. That's what I'd do. Even some of the smaller professionally designed portables can do a good job if proper cleaning agents and a thorough procedure are employed. I started out with a single vacuum Castex Challenger 900 (9-gallon capacity and 100 psi pump no heat). I was able to do a good job on some carpets but it was a struggle. I gradually moved up to a gas-powered truck mount, but portables have improved since then and some can perform respectably so I'm not going to knock all of them equally. I personally believe you need a respectable amount of both vacuum and psi and preferably good heat to do a good job with many carpets. I've cleaned with weak, underpowered portables with only cold water available and still cleaned some carpets well. I'd rather quit the business than do that on every job though. Also, most portables can do a very good job on upholstery and auto detail work even if they're fairly small and not that expensive. A really good portable these days can easily cost several thousand dollars and are no joke. You can do anything with them that a truckmount can do and in some cases do things a truckmount cannot ever do.

I bought a house (14 yr old) with carpet and have been experiencing dust mite allergies. What cleaning routine do you recommend with the carpet? I currently vacuum with a HEPA filter 1x a week. How many times should I get the carpet professionally cleaned yearly?
