a little late to the party excellent as always chock full of so many great ideas I need to remember to really slow down with your lessons and watch them multiple times so some of this really sinks in. FOD is such an unassuming tune yet so many ways to spin that yarn

The simplest tunes invite the most improvisation, since complex song like Crazy fingers or Looks Like rain you are constrained by the quick changes

That is not the correct chord progression. Have a listen to the Recording again. Lowell George would not have liked this version

I will, but I wasn't doing the Lowell George version, but the Bob Weir version from the early 80s

Ive only seen this taught once in a parking lot. Guy played an amazing rendition of Dead classic. Dark star.. everyone started heading for the floor. Spinner spinning and Jerry dancing over the strings and threw the air. Wow.. Thanks you seem to be the only one willing to share this one. Thanks for the video! Cheers!

This is a fun lesson to return to about climbing up and down the neck from both Bobby's and Jerry's perspectives. I've had my eyes set on things like 'Looks Like Rain' that you forget some of the easier rhythms that are still sophisticated when you think in terms of how the ornamentations interlock with each other. It's funny how you let folks know that your coughing during this lesson isn't Covid.
@CliftonEdwards-sk7wo3 ай бұрын
Haha, I guess that is funny. Yeah I was listening to 8-25-72 Truckin' and was struck at the outro jam how the simple interaction of Jerry Bobby Phil in a simple E groove that just never stops

I sat out in the 105 degree heat today and played Eyes, and the heat always changes how you play. Makes me think pot the 8-27-72 ,Oregon show where it was 104, and how that show feels so summery....

@@vedantus I heard it on my first show....I was 14 years old. My older brother and his buddies, who were all big GD fans, dragged me along to see the show. I was not that familiar with the band though I was quickly mesmerized by Jerry's and Bob's skills and the interplay between them. This definitely changed my musical direction ..I gave up playing three-chord Punk tunes and started working on learning triads etc..I saw a bunch of shows throughout the 80s but by the 90s the shows started to decline in quality. My last show was in Buffalo in 93 or 94. Jerry was far from on, which was sad to see ....sucks getting older but I guess we were both lucky to see them before the band really blew up after the "Touch of Grey" Lp came out ...everything changed after that album - the whole scene changed. The venues got bigger and the crowds became much rowdier - c'est la vie - the impermanence of life! Anyway, keep up the good work...I enjoy your channel! Take er easy broham!
