^^ TIME HAS RUN OUT !! John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. First time I ever saw one of those. Ends up my great grandfather was co-owner of the original engineering company. Small world, great video, but guess you already knew that.

I have images of three pages of the bridge drawings. One has the address for C.A.P Turner as #816 Phoenix Building, Minneapolis. I assume that was the address of the Gillette-Herzog Manufacturing Company branch in Minneapolis. It appears to me the company began in Minneapolis in 1892, but was incorporated in the state of Montana in 1898. Do you know much about the history of your grandfather's business?

I agree. never heard of this one. I've been on the transporter bridge at Middlesborough. they have a lift bridge in Middlesborough as well but I believe its not been raised for decades.

This is a historical gem in a amazi g city which enhances the arrival and departure of great lakes and ocean traversing ships. Duluth should be hailed as one of the best cities in the world. This bridge must be maintained forever.

What a wonderful tribute to this great building! I had a Photography studio here for twelve years (with Kathryn Nordstrom). I loved every minute of working in that building. Thank you for the history lesson! JoAnn Jardine Studio One Photography

The video states 2 story addition for the police department was added in 1930s. A previous historic survey also states the 1930s. However, a permit for a new brick police station at Broadway and Hammond was applied for on May 1st 1918 (we have the city record book at Douglas County Historical Society). Estimated cost was $80,000. In a telegram photo from June of 1918 the building can be seen under construction in the background. More research to find the date of completion needs to be done. It would be in the summer or early fall of 1918. Some of the early photos we have include the building with vehicles that are more consistent with the early 20s.
