Here's a NASCAR example of a downturn in form. Dale Earnhardt going from his fifth title in 1991 with 4287 points, to 12th in 1992 with 3574 points. Statistically it was like this: in 1991 he had 4 wins, 14 top 5's, 21 top 10's and an average finish of 8.6, but in 1992 he scored 1 win, 6 top 5's, 15 top 10's and an average finish of 14.9

i know the cars were still very slow due to 1994, but damn, they look slow too. 1997 was a big leap already with Jacques pole time some 3 seconds faster.

Good hard racing by two legends. Amazing feel and skill by Gilles to stick it around the outside, Jones right on the limit of adhesion but leaving space and keeping it clean. Lots of guys today would just slide into the side of the overtaking driver and shrug, "sorry, I understeered 🤷‍♂️"

After the last two F1 seasons that happened(2022&2023) I’m looking for something different. The racing and standings are so predicable in F1 and seeing only 3 drivers win all the races was such a pain to watch. I’d love to get into NASCAR but find it’s too hard to understand.

Good Video for Beginners wanting to know more about NASCAR Racing. Stages seem a bit strange for me as we have the Bathurst 1000 that Races all Day with PitStops Tyre Changes Repairs etc But with Two Drivers. Anyway I wanted to know which part of the Track is the Best line ? On top or down the bottom yellow or in the middle as a lot of drivers use the Top Line but some Drivers try to cut through to the bottoms or is it on the bends that they use the low line. Wouldn’t the top line be more travelled compared to the bottom line being the shorter route. Just not sure about the Racing Line ? 🔥👀🇦🇺🔥👀🇦🇺🔥👀🇦🇺
@Wydillius
@Wydillius 3 ай бұрын
Late response but the line changes every time based on track conditions, or added substances. One day the high line is good, the next day the low line is good. Sometimes it changes mid race

Absolutely false, those walls are designed to crumple when hit, unlike the metal-shack looking building he hit into. Look at the last POV, did that look gentle to you? What part of you thought that launching a driver over a fence and off the track was safer?

I have never seen a sport so determined to overcomplicate itself into extinction...well except maybe the NFL. It all started with the chase for the cup in '04 which began a long tradition of "If it ain't broke, bash it in the head with a giant hammer until there's nothing left." (long winded rant below) 2014: The chase expands from 10 to 16, win and you're in. Everyone else is judged by points. 4 rounds are done in knockout style until Miami. Highest finishing racer is Champion. But if you finish well for the first 35 races and then wreck in race 36, you're F'ed. 2016: All races now have forced caution clocks every 20 minutes that prevent long distance stints because F driver safety and natural racing. Sprint Cup develops gimmicky Dash-4-Cash events that have several heats before the main event. Be prepared for forced trauma at the end with the overtime line which demands 2 more laps of green flag racing. They'll try it 3 times per race before saying "F it" and declare a winner. 2017: Say hello to segmented races! Because 1 full run of 400-500 miles is too traditional and boring for people to understand! The first 2 segments give 1-10 bonus points and the third segment gives 40 to the winner, 35 to second and drops a point per position. The "playoffs" are now decided by these bonus points. Points are no longer given for leading the most laps in a race. If you have to replace something or get your car worked on, you're F'ed. It doesn't matter anyway because the driver that finishes highest is still season Champion. You couldn’t flood something with more in the gimmicks if you tried. The executives have dug themselves into a massive hole with their incompetence. What is the endgame? What is the modus operandi with all of these changes? If it’s angering the fans, you have succeeded spectacularly. Business 101: DON'T ALIENATE THE CORE CLIENTELL TO CHASE SOMETHING THAT DOES NOT CARE FOR YOU! Sam Yokel from Alabama may not be the most marketable guy to the shareholders, but Sam Yokel CARES about NASCAR! He invested his hard earned money into NASCAR by going to races and buying merchandise. Now he no longer cares because the powers that be are wrecking the sport he once loved like a car being driven by Danica Patrick. If you look at most races today, you will notice huge, empty, patches of aluminum where fans should be. This is not an isolated thing, it’s EVERYWHERE. One of my best friends was a massive NASCAR fan who had been watching the sport his entire life. When the owners started making these changes in the early 2000s he suffered through it for nearly a decade until they alienated him to the point that he couldn’t take it anymore and stopped watching. They drove him out, like a leper. How would I fix it? Well I do have this one crazy idea; Just let them race! Most points to 1st place and drop a point per position. Most points at the end of the season is Champion. I’m a genius!
