Slowly working my way through the content I missed for a few weeks. This video came to mind today as I made a purchasing decision. I bought a TYM3515hc Cab tractor with 3rd function, grapple, 6’ brush hog, and 5’ box blade, and a bigger 20’ 14k gross trailer and having it all shipped 920 miles and the tractor’s tires loaded. Financing 46k for all of it. This video reminds me of a fresh maintenance start on new equipment and that I’m going to start using a written log book for each piece now to keep track better. Also just keep shaking my head that I’m getting all of that new for $10k less than a 3039r with a cab and nothing else. Going to open up my jobs quite a bit.

That’s awesome to hear! And a new trailer? That’s just awesome! That’s a lot of value for the money. A cab is going to be great. You’re going to have to start chasing jobs now lol. Which means more tractor time! Yes a maintenance log book is crucial for sanity. Most PTO implements have gear boxes that need oil. Even after scheduled maintenance on a log book, make sure to do your daily checks. Let me know when it shows up and you get some seat time on it. I’m interested to hear! Cheers 🍻

@@BulldogTractor Thanks, will do. I have used a dry erase board until now for my 1025r and implements’ maintenance tracking, but adding more means adapting documentation, not to mention stocking more filters and fluids. Not sure about you, but I like to have everything for the next servicing on the shelf when I’m getting one servicing knocked out. Yeah the value is just too good not to pull the trigger. Especially when my whole area is covered in fallen trees and I’m sure clearing that stuff and grinding stumps will be plentiful for a year or two. Definitely going to start chasing brush hogging and driveway refreshes too. I’ll hit the ground running when it shows up for sure. Just a no brainer when I know I can sell 1 trailer and a lot of equipment without impacting much performance if I’m not able to be as busy as I want. It’s a blessing to build slow and carry as little debt as possible. Keeps options available.

Thanks for another video! I’m in upstate SC (just below the western NC line) and we just got internet back last night. 18 days down (and no cell signal at our house). The trees went down here everywhere, blocking roads and flattening cars and parts of houses. We are dealing with a lot but have a lot to be thankful for when we look just north of us in the hills. Enjoying the catch up on KZbin now that I’m back online. 2 weeks ago I shelled the transaxle on my 1025r my business is based on. It’s in the shop in the middle of a $6000 fix. Looks like 3.5 years of Baumalight 1P24 stump grinding was probably too hard on this little tractor. Significant part of the business. I’m trying to buy a 3 year old Kioti CK3510se cab tractor on consignment nearby. Really hoping I can add it. Much heavier built and should handle that grinder easily. Might even look at the same one you run. Tractor first. Thanks again!

@@BulldogTractor Yes sir, but tough odds make the best stories. I really like what I've seen from Kioti. I drove this one around quite a bit and it feels as heavy and well built as a Deere 3046, or maybe even bigger. When a 3039 with a cab is quoted to me at 54k or 69k with a backhoe, but a new CK3520se with a cab is 20k less, and the backhoe costs half as much, something is really wrong. TYM and LS make solid basic machines too for even less than the Kioti. Kioti is basically the Deere/Kubota of the South Korean tractors. I already knew I can't afford a Deere upgrade unless I run the business as a full time gig and ramp up the work and advertising. Now that I found a 3 year old 3510se with a cab with 265 hours on it for a 21k asking price and full financing available for a couple bigger implements along with it, that's hard to walk away from in my position. I especially want to grind more stumps without killing the 1025r and start brush hogging more than a couple acres at a time with a 6 foot cutter and a cab to keep dust and bees out. If that were to work out I'd be looking hard at your rake. We'll see.
@BulldogTractor
@BulldogTractor 9 күн бұрын
you are 100% correct from my perspective! That is a SIGNIFICANT cost savings, and a significant upgrade in equipment. In business, you need to guard against emotional ties. We all would love an additional 3046R in the fleet. Unfortunately, Want & Need are not always equals. Take a good hard look at the Quick Attach manufacturer. They are built to Construction grade and you’ve seen me put them through “for hire” abuse. Also that TR3 rake is one of my go-to tools for when I really don’t know what I’m getting into!
@jeremyj612
@jeremyj612 9 күн бұрын
@@BulldogTractor Thanks, will do. I’m also looking at the 3 point soil conditioner/harley rake Good Works Tractors recently showcased. Looks like a good compromise between a landscape rake and a tiller where a lighter roughing will do and you meant to avoid the post-tilling work to smooth and firm an area up. They are pretty pricey though unless you really plan to use them.
@BulldogTractor
@BulldogTractor 9 күн бұрын
I took a hard look at those styles of attachments. Quick Attach makes one as well (wink). I ended up shying away due to bearings, seals and my experience with rotating carbide equipment. Between the carbide cutters on the stump grinder and now the forestry mulcher, those are wear items that need to be replaced. Start welding them onto a balanced drum, and I don’t know if I want to go down that path. Then it’s bearings and seals as maintenance items. I changed direction and went with a low to near zero maintenance tool such as the TR3. As a bonus the TR3 can reach down below a pothole to break it up. To a lesser extent but still something worth noting. It can double as a tiller if required. Can’t tell you how many times I was only asked to rake, when actually the project needed a full renovation. It’s a hard decision, think on it 👍 Cheers 🍻

You definitely can, and in some cases it is necessary. Such as slopes or difficult terrain. For turf lawns i prefer to see my seed rate. Which is difficult at best when mixed into the slurry. Looking at the color of the soil, it looks on the wetter side. To get a good fracture of the soil, it needs to have the right amount of moisture. You don't want it bone dry and you don't want it to moist. If you pull a core and squeeze it. It it stays together it is probably too wet. If it crumbles, that is the moisture level you want.

Nice job Justin! I just did a stump job the other day that was the biggest one I've done yet with my 1P24 and 1025r. It was 55" at the cut line, and 84" at the ground, not counting the roots to chase or mounded dirt. The guy didn't mind if it took me all day and I had time so I got it done. Was actually only 4 hours of grinding plus the dirt work. Sure wish I'd had your set up. I'm trying hard not to add a machine...lol. If I keep going I'll add a 40-50 hp cab tractor, grapple, and bigger brush hog and land plane. Start doing more driveways and brush cutting acreage. Thanks for another one!
@BulldogTractor
@BulldogTractor Ай бұрын
Thanks! Appreciate it 🍻 84” is a big hog of a stump. 4 hours is actually pretty respectable for such a monster 💪. I hear ya on a larger tractor. I’m happy with my open station, as a large percentage of clients like to talk & watch me. O/S just makes communication easier. If I get a cab tractor, my mind is made up on the JD 4075R. Give a hard look into clearing brush. Both the tractor and skid bounce off trees and limbs like a ping pong ball. I’d still have to keep my O/S for tractor brush jobs as i couldn’t take busting a window out on a cab. But a bat-wing for tall grass sure would help. The A/C would be a treat as well 🤣. But transportation of a batwing might take some thinking 🤷‍♂️. Oh man, now I’m back analyzing purchasing a cab tractor lol. I made a promise to myself to not get into snow removal. But a cab tractor could sway my thoughts! Ha! Cheers from the Bulldog 🍻

@@BulldogTractor Oh yeah, trailering is key for me too. Going up in size with a brush hog & tractor will definitely drive a trailer purchase for me too. I need to be pretty sure I can add $10k profit a year to my average minimum just to break even on something. Being retired military with other income streams I don’t want to have to work close to full time to not lose money. That’s one reason I’ve been looking at Kioti or TYM for a bigger cab tractor. Keep capital costs as low as I can and still have a factory warranty to cover any hard lessons early. I’d probably still use the 1025r for the majority of jobs, but it sure would be nice to resurface driveways and cut fields and brush in A/C. I’d love a grapple too and I just haven’t felt good about spending the money to get one on the 1025r because I’ll be so limited in capacity and that thing is so unstable with a load raised up. Not a good thing in upstate SC where it’s hilly everywhere.

I hear what you’re saying. I had a direction in mind for the video. But shortly after it was the story that took center stage. I hope to cross paths with Vic again. I would offer to pick up the bar tab and listen to him for hours.

How is the grip of those hybrid tires? They look like they would be easier on turf.

Love the R3 hybrid turf radials! Very little turf damage, if any. More traction than R4/Industrial/Block tread in both summer and winter. Unless the application is specifically dirt fields, then I would go R1 Ag paddle. But for everything else, these R3 Hybrid radials are the cats meow! Cheers from the Bulldog 🍻

she looks like my easter egger! they were broody for 6 weeks (a second joined the first), so I got a half dozen fertilized eggs so they wouldn't be wasting their time. 5 hatched about 10 days ago. a third hen went broody just before the eggs hatched! ugh!

Thanks. This girl is a Maran as far as we can tell. Our other girl is a fuzzy cheek Easter egger. They all have strong personalities 🤣

No, she’s a nice lady. At times we have introduced new hens and there was a little hair pulling. But with a little intervention, everyone gets along fine now.

It's nice but the vent didn't work so I opened the lid a bit. The water that came inside was to prime the pump.
