I was a NICU nurse for 47 years. I smiled when I watched this video because whenever I was in charge, I always made sure to set up several warmers or giraffes for admissions so I wouldn’t be caught short in case there were an influx of admissions.

As a 41 yr retired nurse I saw several skeptical practices. Aĺways good to have 2nd nurse check this. Was this done with these training videos?

Placed the NSS syringe on the clean surface without capping it and used it to flush the catheter twice. Needs to be capped. Otherwise, great.

When I’m older, I really want to become a NICU nurse but the only thing is, I’m afraid of taking blood or giving shots to the baby. I don’t want to hurt the baby. And, I’m really scared of looking at blood drawing.

I am watching this and remembering how quickly everything had to happen/ everyone had to move when my first was born 3 months premature and in distress, aka hr dropped to 22bpm for a good amount of time, the placenta had abrupted (which was unknown before delivery due to placenta attachment being at the very top of my uterus and the umbilical cord was also found to be a total length of <12cm during the c section when the doc could not get her out she would grab her then little one would slip out of her hand which pulled even more on the placenta) this caused me to hemorrhage as well as at the point when they got her out her heart stopped and they had to perform cpr in the OR. They rushed her out and to NICU where she once again had her heart stop. <this last part I was told later. Thankfully the amazing surgeon saved my life while the amazing NICU team saved my baby girl. She just turned 16 years old this past April. She's is set to finish high school 2 years early and aside from digestive issues she is doing amazing considering her very fragile start. I don't know what we would have done without the amazing NICU team we had.

Aren't watches, nail polish , rings and any other jewellery banned at any hospital for hygienic and disease prevention reason?
@KT-wn3xi4 жыл бұрын
Do you ever have an x-ray verify placement? I'm happy that there is a standard formula. I was taught the NEX method for adults but will be training in the NICU for my preceptorship. I am also in CA. So I am eager to see the policies and procedures for the hospital I will be at.
