It always amazes me how good woodworkers keep everything so clean and neat...meanwhile I have glue all over my hands and tools all over the place.

I've had one in my shop for nearly 30 years now and it's the best hold-down on the market.

I have had this hold down on my bench for many years and always works even when some other styles don't. It does work work well with the Veritas planning stop for work holding.

Is there something during the installation process that keeps the shelves from being pulled off the brackets at any point?

You can use WoodPrix plans. The best e-books and very detailed instructions. You can learn much from them and make it yourself.

Magnificent program on this shed.The entire roll-out of Men's Sheds has made such a difference to us here in Australia & New Zealand where they have proliferated.In an increasingly divided & bitter society these places have the ability to help heal & overcome societal divisions.Well done, lads!

Hello, for the first time, we made a mistake and did not know much about wooden cutting boards, so we purchased a John Booth cutting board from the Williams Sonoma website. The cutting board was wrapped in a layer of plastic in the box, and the oil was moving around and damaging it. The problem is that the packaging is poor, and the cutting board surface is completely covered in dead skin cells. If you wash it with water, clean it with baking soda, dry it, and apply oil, dead skin cells will form and the surface will become rough. Is this correct? It's not because you don't know, right?
@jakeh6806Ай бұрын
It is not covered in dead skin cells that you can see. If you are seeing a white film on type that is excess oil and or wax that is drying/curing on the surface. Just wipe it well with water and let it dry overnight. If it feels rough the next day that is the fault of the builder because they didn't raise the wood grain first before the final sanding. Unless you have an orbital sander, I would just return it. It sounds like a poor quality cutting board.

Nice work! How thick are your cutting board strips?

Great video with lots of useful information. Pity the sound is so bad. Could barely hear him talking sometimes. A talking style that alternates between whispering and almost shouting doesn't help. What made it even more difficult is that there are no closed captions (CC), which would have partially overcome the problem. Look into audio filters like compression (and CC) to avoid these problems in future.
