Doesn’t look like it took up too much space, but you can wrap the wax coated hemp wick around the lighter and have it ready to go. Helps both with storage and use.

This is really impressive! I'm having trouble fitting half the stuff in my tin, lol. Where did you get your charging cable and adapter because I'd love to add this to my urban kit? Thanks!

It's on Amazon: amzn.to/3ZKIjY6 There's a different cable called the KableCARD that I like taking with when I travel. It would fit in a tin but takes up way more space. I like it because it also acts as a phone stand: amzn.to/3yEiNYh

@@bizurkur Sweet! Thanks again for the links and great ideas! I'm still amazed how you can fit so much in yours. My problem is having a signaling mirror, fresnel lens, and two fish survival cards on the bottom with my fat mini lighter. That has 8" of gorilla tape on the bottom layer, ~14ft of fish wire in the middle, and jute fire cord on half the top layer and kevlar rope on the other half. The fish wire is tied so that I don't have to unravel the jute cord or kevlar rope. I'll probably end up taping the mirror to the bottom of the case with a couple of strips of duct tape. Also FYI, I love using cotton and Vaseline as fire accelerants, however I discovered that alcohol wipes will produce a beautiful flame and obviously doubles up as first aid. It doesn't smell pleasant though. Well I hope that can save you some space so you can add more gear 😂

@@BonaFideWildLife Since posting this video, I've added alcohol wipes, butterfly bandages, micro cord, gorilla tape, and some other stuff. I'd love to put a mirror in there I didn't like the bulk. I also have a lot of EDC gear that I carry without even thinking about it. I have stuff sewn into my shoe tongues, ferro rods in my laces, a belt with a stash area, a mini Suunto compass on my watch band, and stuff in my wallet - including a knife. Even my keys have a flashlight and pen. I carry a lot of stuff without having to think about it (25+ items). Then I carry larger items depending on where I'm going and my mood that day. And none of this is obvious to anyone. I put a lot of effort into making it seem like I might not have anything. I you're into more bushcrafty things, kzbin.info/www/bejne/nnevooCNZ9lsm8U is a much better Altoids tin. He has follow-up videos in which he uses it. I'm mostly impressed he fit a 24" saw in there. I have the same saw blade from one of my survival courses and I intend on making a kit like his.

One very simple suggestion. You include water treatment tablet but no real means to contain the water. The produce bag is not likely a workable option. Maybe include a condom. They are small, sterile and watertight.
@bizurkur
@bizurkur 2 жыл бұрын
I've seen other people put one in their kits, but I personally have no desire to drink anything from a condom. I'd rather just carry a water bottle, like I do every day. Or find a random plastic bottle someone discarded. If it gets to a situation in which you're relying solely on a kit like this, then you've already "done messed up." It's only meant as a fun, supplemental thing that might help in a pinch.

Nice kit and well thought out for your use and needs. The twenty could be broke up to 3 or 4 smaller denominations, in a barter everything would cost $20. I like the Fresnel lens fitted to the top lid, quick to get to and free fire if the sun is shining. You might consider a sail needle also. Maby a couple tabs for water. Great ideas! I'm always looking to improve my kits. Thanks for sharing.

The light came out of this knife: www.walmart.com/ip/seort/51094996 The compass came out of a keychain that had a thermometer and compass. I pried the compass out with my hand. It was only held in with weak glue.

Have you considered buffing the inside lid of the tin so you can have a shinier surface instead of using reflective tape?
@bizurkur
@bizurkur 2 жыл бұрын
I've seen videos of people trying to do that and it didn't seem anywhere as reflective as the tape.

Overall I think it’s a good kit. I’d suggest Kevlar string instead of the jute and maybe a Leatherman PS4 instead of a SAK. It’s bigger but the pliers could cut the wire and there is also a flat Philips screwdriver.
@bizurkur
@bizurkur 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I'm actually ditching the twine but was replacing it with some micro paracord. It has a 100lb rating. Not sure if that or Kevlar string is thinner for the same weight. I don't own a PS4, but I do have a Gerber Dime and they're functionally similar. However, I'd have to remove quite a few other things to fit the larger sized item in there. That's why I removed the scales from the SAK so it took up less room. I carry a full-sized Leatherman so honestly either is pointless. I just love the scissors on the SAK. I don't have scissors on any of my Leathermans... except the Micra, but I don't think they compare to SAK quality.

Great kit! You might consider wrapping your bic with tape, twine, or a "ranger band" to prevent it from being compressed and "leaking" in your kit. Sucks to need a lighter to start your fire and be out of fuel. Just my 2 cents.
@RealBoiJare

That lighter is the least of his worry. These supplies will help through what, 3 days? One week? You’ll need to replace almost everything else before your lighter runs out anyway

Great Kit! Having several ways to start and maintain a fire is way underrated. ESPECIALLY the storm matches and candles! The tin itself can be used for a small fire btw! It can be hard to start a fire by itself in natural conditions, but you can start one in the tin then transfer it. Or even put down a little wax once you light the candle and use it as a holder. You can boil water as well to go with the aqua tabs. The tin may warp a little if it's a hot burn, but that's why you have the ranger band. You may want to consider some Kevlar cord as well. SUPER strong and multiple uses, including fishing line.
