@10:35 You shouldn't be using the drill with the ta to restore the thread. That's a bit like using a sledge hammer to tap in some tacks for a picture frame 😵 It's normally done with a small T-bar that the tap snaps into. Should be in the kit. Then you rotate the tap slowly into the existing thread or new hole along with using some thread oil (light engine oil can work too). Working into the hole and back out in steps. Clean the tap between steps to remove any swarf (fine metal particles).

Hi Jimmy. Thought you might like to know that you can use an oil filter for a Mazda 626 instead of the MX5/323 one. It's a little bit longer but same thread size and filter and ring width. It does require a little more faffing around to get it through all the hoses etc in the way. The general consensus of the MX5 NZ forum is that it has a slightly better flow rate perhaps due to the larger filter surface area. I found it cheaper than the original one too at Super cheap here in NZ.

going thru the exact problem right now, same accident. mechanically is still perfect but i bent the radiator support frame,hood and bumper like you. Isn't easier and cheaper to replace the radiator support frame?
