Hello. Awesome video! I have a huge problem and was wondering if you could help? The cut will sometimes be 0.5 to 1mm off to the right or to the left randomly, and sometimes it’s perfectly centered. It’s no glossy. The calibration is perfectly centered and the lenght of the line too. I have the 5.02 for Portrait 3. Is that the latest firmware update? I tried finding the information on websites but couldn’t find anything.

Hi, can you pelase tell how much time the autoblade last? Also, can I also do different depth cuts with manual blade by just changing the force settings? That will help me a lot Thanks.
@kristadraws19 күн бұрын
Hi! I haven't changed mine yet and it has been a bit more than 6 months, so maybe around one year? It probably also varies based on how much you use your machine. Either way I would still keep a spare just in case. 👍 And for the second part - yes, you can adjust both force & add multiple passes (that it cuts multiple times the same shape) and then you should be able to get away with manual blade for most things.
@tech-focued19 күн бұрын

Hi, the original mat of portrait 4 leaves adhesive residue when I cut on cardstocks. Is nicapa better? Also, when I do diecut stickers, the bottom part of the stickers'cut are misaligned. Do you know a fix for this? Thank you so much and I love these kind of videos ❤
@kristadraws2 ай бұрын
Unfortunately, Nicapa mats also sometimes leave some residue on cardstock (not so much on vinyl sticker paper) - I think to fully avoid this you need the electrostatic mat, that I might get in the future & if I do - I'll definitely do a tutorial for that. 👍 And for the bottom part misalignment - I actually had some issues when I used the original mat, but it almost completely went away when I switched to the Nicapa mats - I don't know why, maybe because they are more sturdy. Calibration could also help a lot, if you haven't done it yet. But, I think in general, for these entry level machines, you need to give some extra "room" - add bleed that you don't cut around the stickers just in case it decides to act up. Hope some of this helps. 😅💛

hey krista, do you find that the 8inch nicapa mat works well for portrait 4? as the default mat is 8.5/9 inch but it's so hard to find the replacement!
@kristadraws2 ай бұрын
Hi! In my opinion Nicapa mat works better than the original one, that came with Portrait 4. 😅 It's more sturdy. Plus, you can still cut letter sized paper on them as well! You just need to choose "Portrait 3" in the machine list & the "Portrait" option in the cutting mat drop-down and adjust the pinch rollers a bit, so it's easier to feed them in. 👍

Do you have some tips for the machine to easily read the registration marks? Mine was having trouble reasing it.
@kristadraws4 ай бұрын
Hi! The main thing I have found is that Portrait actually reads the marks best without any harsh light, so I wouldn't recommend keeping it right next to a window or a bright lamp. Another thing I have done, is to go over the registration marks with a black marker and when I do lamination, I cut off corners, so it doesn't go over the marks. Hope that helps! 💛

Yes, I started drawing around the time I got my iPad, so July 2021 (I studied Computer Science in university) and even though it's such a boring answer - I just practiced A LOT. I remember that the first tutorials I did were from 21-draw website, specifically Erika's course "Digital drawing in procreate for beginners" and after that I joined Instagram and found a lot of other artists I admire. If I really liked their style, I joined their Patreon and learned from there. I still don't know how to draw everything, so I try to do at least one tutorial a week, plus I try to do traditional drawing from time to time as well, because I think it really helps with "line confidence", because it's not so easy to "undo". 😅
