This is a really great question! Hebrews 13:15 tells us that our worship, our praise, is to be a sacrifice. We believe that means that instead of creating a worship experience that we enjoy, we are called to set up our worship in a way that pleases God first. God also speaks through Paul in Colossians 3:16-17, and says that our song worship ought to richly implant the Word of Christ in us - that it ought to teach and admonish us. While we might be more entertained by contemporary gospel music, we believe that thoughtful, scriptural hymns better accomplish the purpose of teaching us the deep, rich truths of God's Word, as well as challenging us and even making us uncomfortable in ways that ultimately push us to grow closer to the image of Jesus.
