Dang when I was in middle school I used to get so mad and disappointed when my classroom and other classrooms didn’t have the rest of the series this is one of those series I was obsessed with the marked series as well but I don’t see a lot of people reviewing these old books only new ones it would be so interesting if people did more reviews on the older books even if we know it’s trash lol

I appreciate your recap of this book. I have tried to get into it like 3 times but I Mrs so forgettable! It’s not vining with me at all! I feel really bad about it I anticipated it’s typical YA of it’s time not we’ll written- but maybe trashy entertainment! But no I can’t even remember anything after I’m done reading 🤦🏽‍♀️ And I got the entire series! I think I will attempt the audiobook of book 2 I heard someone say it’s much better. But I guess I will Unhaul it.

I LOVED Bride of the Shadow King. There are some politics involved which are the cause of why Faraine and Vor cannot be together. It has to do with the human king’s favoritism toward the other daughter (he is more likely to hold up his part of the agreement if his more favored daughter is wed, also it would cause much offense to the king if his favored daughter was not chosen) and also there is history of Faraine’s unfortunate mishap with a previous betrothal (whom behaved quite unruly and disrespectful)- that did not end up going through. The scene in the garden leading up to the part where Vor kisses Faraine’s hand had me crying. I was so touched! It was such a precious scene. I’ve read the book twice and twice I was crying at that scene. This book is truly precious and wonderful, I highly recommend it! Book 2 comes out tomorrow (Oct 10) I am just idling on my toes waiting for 12 midnight so I can start devouring the next book!!!! I am so excited! Book 3 releases next year in summer. That will be a painful wait. 5 out of 5 stars, highly recommend!

I just started Siren Queen today, got it from the library. I feel you on the writing, it is not what I like myself but I want to try and finish it.

The fans tend to refer to that chunky exciting end to a Sanderson book as the Sanderlanche. He's known for them and they are frequently epic.

I have been needing to get to the Fire Keeper's Daughter, I've had it on my TBR for a while and really want to get to it. Also, I love hearing that you loved Mistborn! The series just keeps getting better and his other series are amazing as well.

This book definitely had a hold on me when I was younger as well and though it's not the most amazingly written thing I've ever read, somehow the series has become a comfort read for me and helps me get out of my reading slumps. My favorite installment is Radiant Shadows and it's about as far away from Aslinn's love triangle as the main series gets lol (Though, note on the Winter Girl thing is that you are literally freezing until the next winter girl comes along and you have to follow your ex until then, warning people not to take the test because of the curse which sounds pretty bad to me, especially when the ex is Keenan lol)

I have heard good things about Furyborn, I haven't read it either but I am interested in seeing what you end up thinking about it.

Deep Blue is on my tbr (and has been there a while). I will get to it eventually but since it doesn't take away much space I don't mind it. Watching unhaul videos has given me the strength to sort through my own books. I still own them because it is quite hard to sell or donate English books where I live but I unhauled the Cruel Prince trilogy, the Throne of Glass series as well as Vampire Academy and some other popular books 😅

Oh yazzz I love dark/taboo romance. I do like all genres but dark stuff is my weakness. I'm kn a horror kick now but will have to check out some of these. carrie is my all time favorite movie and i read the book a few years ago and i literally hated it because of the way he wrote woman and the way that he described woman’s bodies. i really liked that you talked about feeling solidarity in woman’s bathrooms because his take on woman in this book was definitely from a man’s perspective

I ended up reading Girl of Fire and Thorns recently and enjoyed it, I need to read the rest of the series eventually.
