It represents a movement within the sequence. I'm not well versed into this Kata but there is Bunkai explanations that are easy to find. That gives me an idea for one of the video!

That’s a good question! Judges will look at the individual techniques, stances, showmanship, power. Score is not on the actual Kata but how it was performed!

Kanryo Higaonna was the one who taught Kururunfa and Seipai to Mabuni Kenwa. Gokenki only taught him Hakutsuru (Hakaku), Nepai (which became Nipaipo), and Papuren. Chojun Miyagi also learnt from Gokenki that is why Hakutsuru kata is in Goju ryu as well. Gokenki was the one who gave a recommendation letter to Miyagi to help him to be accepted by some Chinese masters during his 3 years trip to Fujian Region of China. The two main masters of Kenwa Mabuni were Itosu and Higaonna but he also learnt from many less well known masters in Okinawa this is how he learnt many other katas such as Papuren, Anan etc...

It was an arm, that's how i lost my fight when i was 15, there was a draw so we got extra time. We both were scared to do first move so when there was 10 seconds left both of us high kicked at the same time, the difference was that he landed first but i covered left side on my face with my arm so the kick did not connect with my head, I on the other hand landed clean head kick but somehow he got the points. My coach even argued with judges but obviously they could not change their decision. I was disappointed since it was my 2 tournament and it was open tournament which means it does not matter what belt do u have, you could have just yellow while your opponent had blue and that was the case in my fight, i was just a yellow belt fighting blue belt and it was my second fight at this tournament and i was really happy that i did so well against much more experienced fighter, so i got really upset when i found out i just lost, i believed i just got another win against blue belt. PS.: it was not Karate, it was Taekwondo.

Kyokushin was created to defeat Muay Thai because the Goju Ryu / Shotokan guys kept losing to the Thais as they were only used to point kumite and leg kicks. In 1964 Japan took 3 fighters to Thailand and won 2 of the fights

@@gunnerhiro394 yes. I meant to say the karateka *WEREN'T* used to leg kicks. But yes, the Kyokushin guys won 2 fights out of 3 in Thailand and the one who lost was a replacement fighter called Kenji Kurosaki ; Kenji went on to teach kickboxing around the world

The kata movements are very bad and it appears that they did not learn the basic movements in a mechanical way, just memorization with very bad performance. Since I have a lot of knowledge in Shotokan Onso, it was distorted and very bad. I think that they should learn Heian and then reach the advanced katas... Good luck.

This is an actual tryout tournament, there is a wide range of experiences. They are trying to get in Canada Team, most will not make it but all will learn and get better for next year. Martial Arts is also about always learning and tournaments are a great way to do so!

This version of the Kata is the same as Luka Valdesi. No it wasn’t perfect but this kid had the balls to step in the mat and compete, so to get better. That’s the spirit of Karate, always learn!

Full contact Karate is awesome too! But most practice karate for the art, the sport, be in shape and compete under a controlled environment. Great full contact fighters started with point fighting, Aghayev is a prime example of it.
