If you can't walk on a frozen lake can you really call it winter??
@tenantdad76645 күн бұрын
You should get flagged for misleading. You are NOT talking about cold weather. How about below 30 or 20?? Actual, or at least kind of, cold weather.

I don't understand? You put down a underlayment breather material so the shakes can breath but you put tar paper on top of that between the shakes and breather? Looks like the only breathing being done is the starter row.

I have used cougar paws on roofs (usually on steeper roofs) and typically i just use my oil resistant and water restistant steel toe Georgia boots on most roofs here in Florida

My fascia is made of plywood. What do I do to protect it from the elements (rain)? My roof is not covering it and drizzles and rain showers hits the surface of the fascia

Been knocking doors for 7 years on and off. About 4 years with no breaks. For multiple industries. NOTHING BEATS KNOCKING A DOOR! Not because it’s the best form of marketing, though it can be, but because of the skills you develop through doing so. Doorknocking is true sales. Take someone out of their daily routine and take them from saying no all the way to getting a new roof fully replaced and having a happy family. Nothing is more rewarding. And it’s free! Lol. However, you do get burned out and it’s important to branch out into ALL forms of marketing. Just my opinion. But i am a firm believer of “what works, works.” So do what is best for you.

Many times Mansard roofs last for a 100 years or more. They're beautiful and imaginative...So anyway, weather resistance is not a real bad problem

Why don’t you hire white people? You are directly contributing to the disenfranchisement of white Americans as we are being displaced in our own country. Shame on you.

I like your channel, but I would like to comment that standing seam (SSM) doesn't prevent ice dams. We have a customer who had a new SSM roof installed and then got horrible ice dams. So much so that water got into the attic and collapsed their dining room ceiling on Thanksgiving day. We had another customer who had SSM and had ice dams so bad that it bent and twisted the metal at the eaves and valleys. We've installed heated eave panels for both homeowners to solve their problems.

1. Roofs are analog not digital 2. Ice and water hasn’t been around nearly as long as shingles, how did we ever get by until then? 3. Underlay is snake oil if you’ve ever ripped a roof more than 20 years old you’d know lol.

Grace is by far the worst material you could ever try using. The problem is in the heat you can’t work with it without having it eventually fold up and stick to itself. These membranes that are coated in plastic are terrible for nailing into especially since they do what they advertise and that’s shed moisture and the issue I have with it is that fasteners are metal so that moisture tends to rust out the fasteners placed over top of it. Granulated material tends to absorb and distribute moisture enough to prevent moisture from making continuous contact with fasteners whereas plastic coated surfaces will hold that moisture in bulky beads that will sit against obstacles like the tops of shingles and nail penetrations. It’s especially bad when placing drip cap or drip edge over top of material with plastic coating. As a roofer of 30 years I will always recommend a granulated material for eaves protection.

I really like video on how many nails to install a shingle I've done two roofs of my life, I've used a staple gun is that still a good practice today did I put on I lived in this house and it's been on for 30 years now. I live in Phoenix Arizona so we don't get a lot of wind

I don't care if they used recycled plastics or if it comes from pure Pennsylvania crude. Does is look and act and last like slate for substantially less money?

Your video didn't include the typre of snow guard that clamps to a standing seam metal roof ON the standing seams. And I'm talking about the same type that screws to a panel but this type instead clamps to the standing seam the same way snow bars do. In addition your video does little to explain the locations where snow guards need to go in a staggered pattern.
@rscranman2002Ай бұрын
Do you have a link for the snow guards that are metal? The one you are holding that is the long bar version?

Given the proportion of labor vs materials costs, durability is very important from a cost perspective. Also, both labor and materials will likely exceed general inflation. As an example, in my area of CA, highest quality Architectural shingles are going for over $250/sq. Most of that is probably due to Covid inflation so hopefully prices will not continue on that trajectory.
