I suffered the whimsical child to a perfectionist who hates everything that isn't ideal pipeline for awhile and it really does just make you miserable. Constant burnout, self-hatred, stopped drawing for weeks, would take down old art and barely post new ones. Pretty much forgot I was a passionate hobbyist who draws for * fun * and little else. Once you abandon that mindset it's so much better and actually exciting again. The less stressed you are the better you do, and If I think somethings bad, and I don't want to post it, I might post it anyways and just go, "well it's not the greatest, but it was an experiment and I learned from it lol." at the end of the day, what would help all of this is kids being less online. Most of the folks fostering this kind of cruelty are usually pretty young, often middle schoolers. And middle schoolers are notorious for being incredibly cruel and apathetic in a lot of ways, along with falling into "us vs. them" mentalities. If you're a young learning artist, don't seek validation for your art online. Show your friends, family, and people who might be interested in real life. this is a problem with our system and how copyright works and how we have to constantly see our work as a commodity, art should be the common property of everyone, with respects to the original creators that we can get into, but copying other people is how you start making something new and I struggle with this myself
@CrazyGreenFluff4 ай бұрын
. i've always found it easier to make original content, rather than fan content. that's because whenever i'd make fan stuff, i'd be constantly worried about making the characters OOC. but when it comes to original stories, there's no reason to worry, since they're my characters and i CAN'T make them OOC! i was in a cycle for *years* regarding this, which would look like: join fandom > make fan content > be worried that my fan content is breaking canon > make up my own characters and setting within the world, so that i'm not breaking canon or going OOC > realize that what i've made only barely relates to the canon and could be an original, inspired story if i were to rework some minor details > remove the story from fandom and make it into an original story > now i don't have fan characters anymore and therefor don't partake in the fandom > rinse and repeat anyways, i think it would be cool if you made a video talking about the phenomenon where artists will draw a character from media SO MUCH that it eventually just turns into their oc. i don't think there's a term for this, but i've seen it a lot and it's even happened to me!! :O :D ^^
