When I got diagosed with Autism the guy said to me "you're not good at spacial awareness". I said, but thats what my degree is in. I know that in my head i can go from a plan veiw to an elevation view, to a perspective. Maybe I might trip over things in front of me, maybe im clumsy but i still think I can draw a plan of a building and walk through it in my head. This is the thing about Autism, they make sweeping statments which alows no growth or learning. OK its a developmental disorder but what about when I reach 50 and the rest of society has decided what I should have done at that age? I'm still an outcast even if I have a developmental age of 30y

I'm not scared of spiders, snakes, clowns, lion, tiger and bears oh my> i am terrified of human beings because i'm intelligent but have no ablity to read there intent at 20 paces, I only know when they come up to me and touch me, which they mean well by, hurts me "makes my brain stop working and touch senses feel like tickely fire." I don't know how else to describe it. Maybe its like an orgasim and then its too much after. Thats probably the best way I can describe something sensual that then feels unpleseantly over sensual. Sorry for being so blunt. Imagine if most of your senses were like that. You can only focus on that sensation. Have you ever had a tickly sensation that becomes too much and feels like your being pushed into a fire and it starts to burn and feel hot and you want to step back to the bit that felt nice and warming. Thats what its like it hurts because it starts to feel like a burn rather than ok and people think they are being nice. Imagine if your friend was showing you effection by burning your arm. You would punch them and tell them to stop. However because that friend is trying to show you effection and you pull back, they treat you as if you have just rejected them and you will no longer have such friend.

Yes its mad. My sensory stuff is just turned up and in order to fit in I need to tune it down. But somesomes I love it. I love the spring and the smells. I hate the city because its very loud, has crap bright red adverts everywhere and has the bells, bells, bells(Edgar Alan Poe). I would probably like the church bells not the sirens. I think cities are just really bad for all humanbeings health because we are not meant to live this close together without knowing each outer. Its against our 100 people know you stuff. Then again statistically in America or maybe the UK, you are more likley to be killed by someone you know. WooooooW!!!!!

Loved Jackie! This presentation not so much. No idea why they chose this person to speak on such a classy woman. He was way too opinionated and judgy. Not the type of person Jacqueline would have appreciated speaking on her.👎🏼

President Kennedy was assassinated on November 22,1963 and his state funeral modeled after Abraham Lincoln was held on NOVEMBER 25, 1963. THE SPEAKER MAKES A HUGE SERIES OF MISTAKES which begin at the 29:28 mark when he explains the funeral was held 4 days after the assasination !! ?? President Kennedy's funeral was held 3 days after the assasination which makes this story even more incredible.

I found Dr. Grandin in the 90s. I think it was a NOVA Science Now episode. I was immediately very interested and I admired her accomplishments. The show I saw talked about a stantion she designed that would squeeze the cows to calm them. She also made one for herself and when she would feel overwhelmed with input she would climb in and get squeezed. It was too cool. I followed her career with enthusiasm and can officially say that she is my hero!

There are many city public art departments throughout the U.S. where work by Robert Irwin would be misunderstood or not understood at all. His work is cerebral and most people do not want to have to think conceptually (about site specific phenomena). Public art too often requires artists to present work that has an easy narrative or references to people and history.

I think I just re-learned that not everyone thinks in movies in their heads. I'm 52, and this explains why I have to execute my designs fully in order for clients to understand at all what I'm talking about doing. This also explains why I'm so fast at executing workable stuff, because I'm running contingencies before I even start. And I'm bad at algebra - I made it through college algebra because of it being explained well by a 22 year old double PhD in math who was an extraordinary thinker. She understood some of this apparently. What an important individual Temple is in working through and explaining user-oriented visual process thinking.

My district does hire people who have their degrees outside of education. They do sign off on an alternative license. We have a biologist who worked 26 years out in the field then came into teaching. Not only did he teach science he now teaches SAGE (Sustainable Agriculture and green Energies). Kids are learning about Animal Husbandry (we have chickens and a rabbit so far), Saltwater Tanks, Plant Care, composting and beekeeping. All in the Denver Metro area. This is part of our STEAM program which is also a vocational class.

I work in a small district in CO. I'm in the Admin side in the schools....all college educated and all think that's the only way to go. It's NOT. I agree we don't have enough hands on classes - almost common sense classes. They continue to push college...not even vocational classes or schools. We have so many kids who don't want to go to college and the schools won't listen to them.
