Ok, my friend misheard it as "to save us from Santa's power." Now with that I realized a potentially dark reason Santa is named santa... Satan is the enemy of Christ, and tries over-shadow Jesus wherever he can, right? Now notice that the name Satan and the name Santa is just slightly different, moving the 'n' from the end of the word "Satan" to the middle. Now what does Christmas represent? Jesus's birth right? But what do people commonly associate it with? Santa! See how Santa OVERSHADOWS the meaning of the celebration of Jesus's birth? I don't know, both Santa and Satan use red as one of their prominent colours, I don't know what to tell you, I'm just stating my opinions and some facts on the matter. Even if it is all just a stupid theory blown out of proportion, it's my interesting little theory nonetheless.
