It's not very enjoyable as you seem to very quickly poke you head in a door, video from side to side so fast you cant see what it is and move on with each room. Too bad you couldn't slow down and point out things to your children and really take in the history. Seems like this was just a tick on your to do list.

No point comparing this to a 2K spray job, but you might find it won't last very long. The main issue is Hammerite and such like metal paints, don't flex enough for car body panels. You really need the polymers in proper car paint to stop it cracking and crazing. You probably could have got away with fine sanding and a few lacquer coats. Interesting video though.

This is the equivalent of self-dentistry 😂 I painted my steel boat in 2013 with black hammerite and it lasted well, but the ingredients have changed since due to "green" laws. You might have to repaint your car a couple of times per year

I have a 20 year old car. A Toyota Echo Hatchback. I painted it with little rollers too. It is almost the same colour as yours. I used International Harvester Red tractor paint I got at the Canadian Tire hardware store. It came out pretty good. Before I started, the clear coat was peeling everywhere. I wish I could send you pics of it. I did not have a garage to paint it in so I painted it in the parking lot behind the Walmart.

I like it! Think I'll do the same thing and same color to my old Dodge pickup.

add some Flood Penetrol to the paint to remove the roller mark and then wet sanding, it should be all good.

People spend millions on a house that has been painted with a roller so why not the same for a car..makes sense doesn't it 😊

You did a nice job. The result would be better with a bit higher temperature conditions. Inside a garage or something like that. The colour is looking good. Going to use this paint with a roller on my old tractor...

You need to do the rims black 👍🏻🙂 I enjoyed the video coz you've sold me an idea. I recently bought a Hotchkiss jeep that needs to end up in WW2 green. I'd considered the expense of a spray job. But you know what? I'm not going to bother. I'm going to roller/brush it. More field authentic, more character and more mine. Great job. I've heard brush stroke marks are called patina. Thanks for proving a theory 👍🏻

Good for you mate . What a difference . I painted a few cars in my younger days . I got quite good at it . Best to thin the paint a bit. Tends to go on smoother . Great job though . Ignore haters . You did really well .

That's good enough, but remember that this kind of paint isn't so strong as a real 'hammer' paint, so you should renew the paint from time to time. But it's much easier and cheaper than regular paintjob, I think that's not a problem. I tried the same at the motorcycle tank, and the result was pretty good. I used brown color with golden glitter, I think you know this color. It's pretty widespread and commonly used for metal doors, safes, and so on. I achieved a rat look on a bike with a stable surface without a scam, such as obtaining real surface rust with a salty water solution. I think you may try to paint your car's hood and roof with the same color next time and get a fresh look, without that annoying color difference.

That's impressive. I used to re-paint my microcar and my friend's moped with a cheap compressor and pistol and your job turned out way better. You have way less of orange skin than i created lol. Did you buff and polish it after or left it be? The only thing you missed tho is that you didn't use the plastic primer on the bumpers before painting, so i'm afraid it's gonna start peeling off rather quickly. You always need to use the plastic primer for plastic so the paint sticks. Cheers mate.

Car paint is an epoxy with very strong UV properties, hammerite is an oil based paint that will fade very!! quickly, and red is the worst colour for fadeing

We used to hand paint cars using a fine paint brush and Valspar enamel gloss, with a litle experience you cold get pretty good results, also we sometimes mixed the paint 50/50 with polyurathane varnish for the final coat, they really did shine. lol

Your video has got me thinking... what if you were to heavily lay some paint down using the roller and immediately after spray it (carefully) with white spirit from a pump up spray bottle? To much and it would run but the right amount could cause it to "level". I might have to give that a go myself! Would be great if it worked and saves buying spray equipment and masking off properly.
