Great surfing and being part of the food chain is fun too. Word is, the striped fins act as a natural repellant.

Awesome review and surfing 🔥 I usually run the performers in glass but gonna probably pick up some reactors after watching your guys video. Looked like they still had good hold through the turns despite being a bit more upright 🤙
@MrFidelf14Күн бұрын
very good guys, I was in doubt, between the performer and the reactor, after this video I decided on the reactor, here where I surf in Brazil, but specifically in the northeast, the waves are small and there is a lot of beach break. The reactors will provide better support for my surfing, thanks guys

Build it...or modify it. Can you put chanels in an old board?
@MrRobinski2 күн бұрын
You guys should get a little digital scale and weigh the fins. I just started doing it and its interesting as could also be a factor in small waves.

Yes, fins make a big difference to a board, like tyres/tires on a car/auto.
@used_surf10 күн бұрын
Yep you nailed it with that analogy.

Have you tried the Dane Reynolds fins from Captain? It looks very similar to the AMs, I’m so curious about the differences.
@used_surf10 күн бұрын
Yeah that would be a good comparison because they are very similar with the two front fins being larger and then the center trailing fin being smaller. maybe we'll try to fit that into the mix soon.

I think vee under the nose would help the EPS/Epoxy boards handle the chop. In my day it was called reverse vee - vee under the nose, going to flat or concave/s (optional).

pivots you say? interesting.. looks like the pivots would be ideal for Fl beach break.. looking forward to advancing out of my first heat, lol.🤙

Whats the difference between fcs 1 and 2 ?
@used_surf26 күн бұрын
FCS 1 has twin tabs that need to be secured with a set screw for each tab. Fcs2 has two tabs but they are shaped differently. The front of the fin slides into a slot and then the back end gets pushed down and clicked in....so no screws. So the fin boxes and fins themselves for the two fin systems are different. Fcs1 fins are comparable with fcs2 but not vice versa. Fcs1 is the old system. Fcs2 is the newer system.

What you don't mention which is way more critical than anything you explained, and I know why you don't explain it is because you're unaware you're doing it. When you pump your back foot is normally placed forward of the tail pad. This is better drive when you need speed but the last pump you'll slide that foot back against the wedge of the pad and compress your legs. Having that foot against the pad lets you whip the board to an air-rev where your front foot will naturally find the front of the board for the landing
@used_surf20 күн бұрын
Yep. What your describing is evident if you watch pros surf. Pumping, there foot is up a little and when prepping for a maneuver they step their foot back to the kick.

Hi, I would like to improve my new board with a new fin and whonder what will be the best fin/size , Surfboard dimensions: 7’ 22 1/2” 3” 54.7L for pin tail ? Thanks Dror
@used_surf29 күн бұрын
Is there a brand/model to your board? Sometimes knowing the rocker of a certain model can help to determine what might be the best fin? Also how much do you weigh?
@drornadav206429 күн бұрын

Center fin box is likely a Star Systems box, developed by Paul Borderi, who ran the G & S factory for ages. Paul was a design innovator and made of of the first twin fins ever. He was a lovely human being to work for, brilliant and hilarious---quite the counterpoint to solemn, ultra serious Larry Gordon, who co-founded G & S with Floyd Smith.

Interesting.... I have a Canyon board that was shaped by Rusty before he became "R." It has the star system box in it. Pretty rad stuff!

That donkey with the red board saw you coming and bailed with the board in your path. It's not a big wave just hold your rail saver if you can't get to your board and duck dive it so it doesn't turn sideways and get in someone's way

I was told a twin is easier to surf then a thruster because you have more speed and it's easier to turn. Would you agree on that? I always thought thruster is easier because you have more control. Would love to hear your opinion on that!

What’s the difference between epoxy vs EPS
@used_surfАй бұрын
Epoxy is a resin which is different than poly. Also there are epoxy blanks. Some closed cell and some open cell. EPS is an open cell epoxy. It's a lot like styrofoam cups with beads of foam. It is one of the most common epoxy blanks used to make surfboards.

Those JJF fins are made for head high + in Hawaii not knee-chest I don't even pull out my jjf unless it's solid 1ft Hawaiian (true 1ft overhead) or bigger cause they don't flex and they aren't meant for pumping down the line. Those fins are meant to hold at high speed on waves of consequence not this lil beach breaks. So many people try and use the wrong equipment for the wrong situations and then get upset cause "they don't work" for them (being the key). My take is play around with your stuff and find the boards and conditions they work best in there's plenty of options out there's I try not to pigeon hole myself with my surfing switch up your boards and fins 🤙🏽
