This was the first time that I realized how big your backyard is doc 26:30 I always thought this was a small pond with some bushes in the background, but those are reallly large trees there. And in the pond you can moor your boat there haha 😂

Hey doc, how are you? It was a bit quiet lately because of your snow storm. And I did miss the Moon-Mars conjunction because of an almost 3 week long cloud cover here. The Dutch weather is not very kind to us stargazers 😅

What Android emulator (Windows) to run Seestar application? I tried to do this using LD player but the Seestar cannot be connected to the emulator. I would appreciate it very much if you can tell me how to set up the emulator for the PC. Thank you in advance.

Redid the math and it should have only taken 30 seconds for mars to completely appear. But maybe there is a glow we are seeing as you mentioned that precedes the actual appearance of mars. Sort of how you can see the glow of a light bulb as you round a corner before you actually see the light bulb directly.

DWARF time stamped the files as 12/31/1969 - nothing I can do on my end. DWARF subtracts automatically the dark files from every captured frame to correct for sensor noise.

It depends on your cell phone. I can use my Motorola 5G-ACE to connect to home WiFi or telescope, and use the 5G to make phone calls or surf the web. My Samsung Galaxy A9+ 5G does not allow me to do that - I must choose between WiFi and 5G, but not both.

@PompeyObservatory
@PompeyObservatory 19 күн бұрын
The choice depends on your intended use. I turn to the Seestar S50 for smaller deep sky targets like Dumbbell and Sombrero, but I prefer the DWARF 3 for larger targets like Andromeda and Pleiades. Both are good scopes.

@PompeyObservatory
@PompeyObservatory 18 күн бұрын
Yes, DWARF 3 will capture and track both the Moon and the Sun (with solar filter). It is easier to find the Moon and Sun with DWARF 3 than with the Seestar S50. The solar filter on DWARF 3 is higher quality than the Seestar filter.

Your accuracy in this tutuorial is spot on with what you say in your live streams. I watched this prior to getting the seestar because I remember you talking about Saturn, the blob of light, due to over exposure that cannot be adjusted. I remember balancing off that actuality with the perks of automatic darks, the lens closing by "parking itself" so I don't have to worry about the lens as well as a few other things you mentioned. I have been facing the power button side North and it opens up and spins around and finds objects. Now I know why Mars is not red..... It is very computerized and easy to use, even for someone who does not know how to use them or anything about exposure, gain, etc. I find this little Seestar makes my days and nights better !! I also see that you have other tutorials and explanations for things that I will be viewing. Thanks Pompey !!

Hey dr. J. missed this one. Question; when you film the Sun or Moon, why don’t you zoom in to show more of them on the screen? Or is that not possible with the PC view of the Dwarf II/3? I always zoom in myself, but than I don’t have the same resolution as when you zoom in. By the way, last evening and night were predicted to be clear sky all evening and night, but a few hours before sunset (which was invisible of course) the prediction changed and it stayed all cloudy of course. Two weeks of clouds, and counting… 😳

This thing - DWARF3 - packs more advanced technology than any telescope 10x its price. For a starter, it has an 8 Mpixel sensor, a narrowband dual-band filter at the two wavelengths that really matter - Ha and O3, extremely accurate tracking along the RA axis, the ability to image comets in trees and clouds (let's see you get these off google), unique ability to show conjunctions with both a wide-angle and a narrow-angle cameras (show me these off google), excellent tracking of aircraft and animals in the backyard (hello google), a refined stacking algorithm that allows histogram stretching (google? nah), and lots of joy teaching kids about space. Pathogen, you got it wrong.

Disclaimer: I do not own a Seestar S30. DWARF 3 has a higer resolution sensor for telephoto and a wider field of view. It gives higher quality images for targets like M31 and M45. Wide angle: I imaged the Milky Way with DWARF 3 - I have not seen any Milky Way image with S30.
