sad that i keep hearing other reactors and people say shes just average nothing special. im no musician but i believe what im hearing from this young lady is next level. just my opiinion.
@don-music3 сағат бұрын
100% What’s sad is how few people listen with their ears, but rather with their eyes. She is beautiful which apparently must mean she isn’t actually great at music. She doesn’t sing lead so can’t be that important. She isn’t extroverted so therefore can’t be talented… apparently true talent is required to be outgoing and demand attention on stage, while teaching perfect pitch and time and technique and tone require zero talent at all 🙄 Slap must be really hard because it sounds so cool and fast and most bass players don’t do it. All of those things i see all the time with reactors. Hell even some musicians. It boggles the mind

I remember making a dimmer for one of Muse's shows and it blew up and they said it was vibrating all over the place but they couldn't turn it off..... I was fired lol. I can guess what happened though and it would have been a faulty coil, but I get the blame for not checking everything ten times over despite being on minimum wage.
@Uaerbooht5 күн бұрын
So now that makes her the best bass player!! Give me a fucking break!!!
@don-music5 күн бұрын
Huh? Are you ok? What makes her one of the greats is her technique, which is textbook perfect, her accuracy and consistency, the slides and feel and tone, her immense chops that she very very rarely demonstrates (such as in their recent cover of you oughta know, where the bass guitar was too low in the mix so i remixed it to give it a more appropriate rock bass level), her music reading skills, her knowledge of theory and harmony, the fact that she has perfect pitch, the fact that she has the best rhythm and tempo in a band of extremely gifted musicians, the fact that she is highly trained on bass since childhood in jazz fusion, rock, funk, classical, etc….. I mean, if you don’t get that then I don’t know how you objectively measure greatness in any musician.

EXACTLY. People hear this (and think she has recently improved to this level…)… and many don’t realize there is video of her playing well beyond this level when she was a preteen. They are all excellent instrumentalists… but Ale imho, as a multi instrumentalist myself, is truly the most highly academic and technical outstanding of the three…. Just without the personality of an egotistical shredder. And the original mix from the station, cool sounding though it is, had almost indecipherable bass guitar mostly. This mix, at least as far as levels go, is how it should have been done. I wish i could fix the drums too… they are terribly mixed for rock and with a proper bass level now it just isn’t as aesthetically pleasing. Oh well

I've always wondered what Ale says at 30:08 that cracks up Pau so much and makes her say "That's so bad." I assume it's something in Spanish, cause I can't get anything from trying to read her lips. Every night before I go to bed I watch a couple of their concert performances, then play this video for the "rice soup" and the "Howard Shonson's" bits. They remind me of my nieces when they were the same age. It's been a couple of months that I've been doing this and they still make me cry laughing.

Interesting thought! Always the perfectionist, and i think she won’t delay practicing if she is pissed that she missed something. Just the impression i get. Very interesting possibility, you brought up!

In the little track by track videos for this whole album, Dany says, I stretched myself vocally and musically. It dawned on her during the first practice, “I have to learn to do them at the same time”.

I’ve seen Ale have trouble on the song Burn Out. When they first were doing it live there is cell phone footage of her trying to get it right. It’s in the middle of the song in one part. I’ve seen it twice. I think she has it down pat now.
@markspencer368027 күн бұрын
I also didn’t think she might have tuned her guitar differently than standard E. So good catch that definitely would make it easier.
@markspencer368027 күн бұрын
When Dany does chords in the other songs she holds her middle finger way down near the bottom string I think is high E string (not a musician). So when she is wearing the guitar slide in this song, her finger must want to bend inside the slide. It might even hurt a bit. Do understand what I’m saying. Nice job, by you and of course TW.
@gorddunbar745328 күн бұрын
I think that Pau wasn't feeling great this night. She seemed a bit more subdued during the performance yet fully professional. During her introduction of the final song ("Evolve" of course), she confessed how VERY tired they were. Perhaps that is why Ale was singing more of the backup.
@gorddunbar745328 күн бұрын
I was lucky to be one of those in the audience just six feet from stage centre. Before the performance whispers quickly circulated that "Apologize" was going to be song six on the set list (I think someone took a picture of the set list taped to the floor so they could read it). High fives and shouts of joyful anticipation echoed through the hall. Later, as Dany was introducing the song, I noticed a sustained, seeming nervous glance between Ale and Pau which seemed to say, "Well, here goes nothing...!" Nice analysis of Dany's retrieving the slide from the mic stand. She was SO focused on the beginning of the song, it seemed that she needed to keep herself that tightly controlled in order not to fumble the retrieval of the slide. She did it SO well making the rest of us ecstatic at the result of her diligent practice (and all while on tour, for crying out loud!). I had been looking around for a keyboard since that is what is on the album, but I like the choice they made to stick with just Dany and the guitar for the coda at the end. Thank you for your excellent analysis. It brings back wonderful memories.

Fabulous breakdown, as always Don! Nice to see some of my footage sneak into the mix. It was a privilege to witness the live debut of this song from the third row in front of Dany - she did well on her first venture into playing the slide live! I'm not sure if it was caught in this video, but there was a quick look between Ale and Pau near the start of the song - as if to say, "Here goes nothing - I hope it goes well!" Looking forward to more videos Don - thanks for this one. 👍
