12:25 Every single element of this screams 80s. From the hair, the shirt, to the skirt to the chair, the lamp, the picture, the wall, the ornament

Always a shame when you leave the festive season behind! Next year, why not cancel Netflix and Disney Plus in November and restart them in January, so you can replicate the delights of Christmas television live and without streaming!

Very few Brits said “Merry Christmas “ then . Most said “Happy Christmas “. It was noticeable to me coming from Canada in 1975 where “Merry Christmas “ was the norm.

I was 12 and remember that Christmas. Am still lucky enough to still have my mum and dad and remember watching a lot of these with them. Indiana Jones was my highlight that year

ask a kid in the 80s the 'magical' part of Christmas TV was the build-up of programmes from the start of December; silly things like Willo the Wisp or Saturday Superstore/Going Live

BBC and ITV may have been PDF factories, but these were good times, sadly gone forever. Weak people create hard times.

70’s and 80’s christmas’s tv was amazing as was christmas itself and tbh i long to go back to them. From childhood to my twenties it was a fun and exciting. Now my gran, aunt and uncle mum and dad with whom i spent christmas with year after year are gone and 90’s crimbos when i met my hubby until our very last christmas together in 2021 were just as special. He died before crimbo 2022 and now its just me, my grown up son, my sister and nephew. No longer the same even though i try to do it the way my mum did even the tv is dire. Id love a time machine

The Temple of Doom showing mentioned on Xmas day was the first film my Nan God rest her used her video recorder to tape for me. We didn't even have a video but I could watch it after school when she looked after me before my mum got home from work. I could probably still act out that whole film from memory the amount of times I watched it 😂. The rest of the shows I don't really share the majority opinion on that TV was better then. Christmas was really the ONLY time it was decent but apart from maybe a Fools and Horses xmas special the pickings were fairly slim

Might only had 4 channels way back then, but we had least had great tv shows on the channels now, just producing any crap on hundreds of channels ... and main 4 showing shit tv ..

Christmases in the late 80's were an absolute magical time for me as a kid. I felt like I could take on the world and the future was bright. That dull ache of nostalgia isn't so much that we want to go back (yea we would), it is more that we wish it hadn't changed to where we are now. Too many things have changed but sadly not for the better and that's the problem.

@A-small-amount-of-peas ever heard of 'Quality over quantity'? The amount of garbage now available is insane. Too many channels mean the network has to find a silly amount of content. Personally, I think Prime, Sky and Netflix is awful. Not to mention terrestrial TV. I'm so grateful for my DVD and Blu Ray collection.
