Thank you. I'm starting with a pixel 8 which allows me to put on a custom OS. I would love to make custom hardware as well but that would require significant funding so my hope is that if people buy this version then I could make a custom phone hardware down the road. Or I would have to have a successful Kickstarter. Right now it's just me working on it part time, I wish I could find a way to work on it full time. My vision extends beyond the phone to make several devices for the home that are distraction free. It's more of a lifestyle than just one product. Having tried other phones in this category I truly believe what I'm making will be helpful as I am a customer myself. I'm bootstrapping hard right now but maybe I can send you one to try at some point. I also need help. I don't have time to put together the website, create boot animations, marketing videos, funding campaigns, etc I'm trying to say people don't have to be tech experts to help out at this stage. I'm debating on quitting my job but I probably wouldn't last long with sales from early adopters that are willing to pay for test devices or some backing or something. I feel an insane drive to make this a reality. Any thoughts, thanks again for responding and the positive feedback. What you saw is only the beginning. I believe my approach is much more user friendly than other products currently on the market. I'm also looking into the fair phone and other options.

I think with a few tweaks this could be a really nice, practical set up. Firstly do away with the monitor stands and get yourself a monitor mounting solution. Everyone else will say go for monitor arms, but I find them very expensive. Instead I have a kind of pole that bolted through the desks, making it incredibly safe and stable. then they'll be the choice to have 2 "arms" coming off of that. I should think there are solutions like that for under $50. This will give you so much more space under the monitors and will make your desk seem twice the size. If it's an option, you could fix the monitors to the wall and maybe pull the desk away from the wall so you have more leg room, plus your mouse and keyboard wont be right up against the edge. Looks good though! I use an ultrawide, seemed to suit my work and gaming preferences the most having tried a 42 inch OLED for a week.

Why even switch to Windows? Just flash a USB stick with a Linux distribution and make do with that, which would support most Apple user's want of safety and privacy Apple promises their end-users. You can go far as you want with software and network security, or have none at all if you feel no need and there are plenty of ways to make open-source work for you. As a long-term Linux user, and as someone who likes to KISS my way through it, I'm on Arch. But I don't _use_ Arch, nor do I recommend it, instead recommending easier-to-comprehend solutions like Crystal Linux or EndeavourOS. Check them out some time! Far as desktop environment, GNOME might be more your jam (GNOME Shell, specifically) but if you hate that, consider Crystal Linux's "Onyx" fork, Linux Mint's Cinnamon, System76's Pop!_OS extensions or Material Shell extension. If using generic GNOME Shell, Ubuntu ships with a thing called Desktop Icons NG (DING) that gives you an approximation of a traditional desktop. _And just because something is provided in one distribution_ doesn't always mean it's limited there, since most things are happy to work in tandem with a little effort to put the pieces together. If you don't like the direction GNOME had taken things, you can give KDE's Plasmashell a look. It's incomprehensibly expansive in what you can make it into and what Valve has chosen for Steam Deck's desktop mode. For something in the middle of simple and lightweight, MATE and XFCE are nice options for that. If you want something _even lighter_ there's LXDE and LXQt. Beyond that there's QTile, XMonad, AwesomeWM, BSPWM, DWM, Hyprland, Sway _et cetera_ - basically, tiling desktops with next-to-no visible interface. It's all a matter of how much work you want to put into _your_ personal computer and how you want to use it. Make it yours!

I agree about the price brackets, and the lack of repairability. The base model might seem like a good deal to people at first considering the performance and battery life, but then you realize you can't upgrade. New Ren'Py users should be using the 8 series of releases, not the 7 series ! The 7 series is based on Python 2, which went end-of-life 1/1/2020 with no further releases. The 8 series is based on Python 3, which is actively developed and maintained. Ren'Py 7 and 8 are currently developed in parallel to give existing version 7 games in development time to finish and release or to be converted to version 8. Note: As of versions 7.5 and 8.0, Visual Studio Code is on the editor list. Once installed, search the VS Code extension marketplace for RenPy and add the extension. (It adds syntax coloring, code completion, code snippets for the scripting language ! ) VS Code can be installed separately if needed for other things; then in Ren'Py Preferences just select the system editor -- it will show up as Visual Studio Code (System).

I couldn't say for sure but if I remember correctly I had a similar experience with one of the devices before I changed the battery. Also make sure that the dock is plugged into both usb and power as the usb is not enough to power the device, if you got the device second hand you may be missing the wall charging adapter, that could be it as well. Otherwise smaller chance that it would possibly be a bad motherboard, or screen or the os could be corrupted. Let me know if you are able to resolve the issue and how you managed it. Good luck!

I got one of these brand new. Sadly, when you plug it in, it only flashes the screen. My guess is that the battery is completely flat, to the point where the undervoltage protection kicks in and therefore completely disables it. When starting up, it probably needs a bit more current than the dock can supply, therefore immedietly crashing after briefly powering on the screen and quickly rebooting, causing this flashing. I had something similar happen on an old Android phone when the battery was removed. I already ordered a new battery. I hope i won't ruin this thing, because it's in mint condition right now. Sad that a device from 2003 already had a hard-to-replace built in battery. Thank you for that teardown video, it probably will help a lot keeping my unit in good shape while attempting the repair. I will reply back if the battery replacement fixed it.
