What they postulate here is quite true. When you actually examine the concept of Real Love, its positively terrifying. There's just this force flying around striking indiscriminately, makes you do insane, dangerous things on an unmatched high, then can up and leave whenever it wants. And there's nothing that you can do about it.

I first heard this song in 1991 when in I was in the 8th grade…it was so good then…now at 49 and my kids have grown up…the song is even more powerful

I listen tk this song on my way to fly fish for sea trout ALL THE TIME. I love songs about Rivers and this one is one of the best.

Exactly my feelings since over 25 years ago. This frenetic drum pattern over and over together with that haunting melody and voice above... uuuh, I still have no words, only the tingles all down my spine.

@@OceanSpaceman First time I saw them live in 1998 and I can't remember if they played this song during the "bourgeoisie" tour. But fortunately I could see the band on 7 or 8 gigs overall and still remember myself pogoing several times relentlessly and wildly to this almost tribal one hell of a song. Probably my second favourite from NMN after The Tower.

People talk about their favorite musicians death and how if they could bring one back it'd be like Michael Jackson or prince. My one choice is Erik Peterson. I really wanted him to go the mountain goats route. You will forever be someone I reccomend.
