somehow my Mom on a shoestring budget bought a little orange phonograph record player for us kids, she was an avid Goodwill Industries shopper & would purchase used 45 records for us to play, 1962 I'm 5 yrs old playing this Della Reese record over & over again. even then as a little kid I loved her voice. when I come back here @ age 65 to listen again & again & to read the comments I feel a kinship that comes with you people who have an ear for excellence in music! RIP DELLA REESE. your music is the fabric of my soul!

Ever since I was a kid listening to Della Reese cut loose with this song on her album "Della," I have been wishing that I would someday watch her perform this live on TV. It was a long time coming but...wish fulfilled. Thanks a million, KZbin!

Classical melodies..Love this album! Remember loving this song in 1961(!) A single hit by Steve Lawrence... Listen to the original version, in Tchaikovsky's Symphony # 6... The "Pathetique", "Passionate Symphony" performed in St. Petersburg, Russia, 1983, several days before Tchaikovsky's untimely death...Much "mystery" still. Godspeed.

I just listened to her testimony then I remembered my parents had her 45 and just had to listen. What a voice and what great memories of my parents playing all their music and dancing with their friends at our home. Man I miss them.

My mom would play this song whenever she started drinking. I'd open the door after school to hear it playing and my heart would sink.. Now I'm old and I've had my heart broken a few times, so I get it. The song is beautiful and Della Reese was another Judy Garland with her heart in her voice..🥺

I remember listening to this song every Sunday when I was a young boy in Jamaica. It was one of my father and mother favorite. It also became one of my favorite songs even today.

Really singing from a premiere diva. Powerful emotions... powerful range without studio mixing. Saw her in Detroit when I was so young. Della was the real deal...performers with style and pipes.
