Is that all you can do? Maybe it is time to spend more time at Candlestick. Just sayin.

Just wondering if you noticed a difference in stiffness between the 80 and 85 mast and what is your weight? I am 102 kg and am looking for a very stiff mast obviously however I face the same ventilation issues as in your video while sailing up-wind in chop canting the mast. I now have a 83 mast so I was thinking of an 85UHM AFS.
@sunsetsailboards3 ай бұрын
I'm 85kg, the 85 mast is plenty stiff... the extra 5cm of length doesn't sound like a lot but I find it makes a big difference while winging in choppy water. I also have a 93cm NoLimitz V2 mast that is very good.

Nice foot work and great angle. One have to practice foot work on land until precision and speed is achieved without looking at feet, building up muscle memory. Think having your weight low and precisely above the board center line. Once you have it, jibing becomes easy. I prefer to switch sail first, only using step jibe technique when sailing with eavy camed sail (not often as I don't really like foiling in a straigth line.)

Epoch. You made it back, that is what matters.. after going out in the ocean at 50 knots. Exhausting, scary, wonderful.

Very brave and in perfect physical conditions! But in such hard conditions, with so much over power, it would be better not to go so much out in the ocean, but only just 100 meters, and concentrating on surfing the waves close to the beach, maybe even jumping. Too dangerous and not worth it outside. But often we can't resist to the pleasure of planing full power, so we go and go and go, then we fall like him at 8:00 and the real struggle starts. Would be much easier and less stressing trying to water start at 100m from the coast rather than in the middle of the ocean

I loved it, but it also made me appreciate warm 15-18 knots Levante days in the Med.
@christinemurray14442 жыл бұрын
You were getting tossed there on a 3.8 sail. Brutal day, perhaps you'd need a 3.0 out there with such a storm, I've seen Köster on 3.2 in a storm in Ireland and he's massive.

Out of all the surfing and paddling related videos I've seen here on youtube, and this includes guys surfing Mavericks, Jaws, Nazare, etc , guys rafting gnarly rivers, guys kayaking down huge waterfalls, guys trying to surf the waves created when an iceberg falls apart and other nutty things like that, it's this video that I appreciate the most. There's no talking, no boasting, no false bravado, no music, no drone shots, no huge production values, it's just a regular guy charging on a victory-at-sea-day with a freakin go pro strapped to his head. And not just that, he eats it a couple of times but keeps it together. All of us regular Joe's, who try to get in the water as frequently as we can, can relate to this

Nice illustratration of your suggestion to flip the wing early and let it help to you lead/power through the remainder of the carve (as described in your post on Seabreeze). Makes a lot of sense and something to aspire to. Thanks !

This mast has two "ends" why you showed just the plate?
@sunsetsailboards3 жыл бұрын
the fuselage connection end is the same as all the other SABFOIL masts, so I didn't think it was necessary to show it. The top plate is a new design

Yes, 3.8. Very big - why I bought a 3.5 for UK winter storms...(I am 85kg)
@ROCKETRICKYH3 жыл бұрын
What size sail were you on? Here in the UK we get this quite often. I have used my 3.5 Hot Sails Maui quite a number of times; it does make a real difference. We done for heading out!
@christinemurray14442 жыл бұрын
It's an S2 Maui Dragon 3.8 (smallest they do is 3.4 in that model). The way he was getting tossed he could have gone down to 3.2 or 3.0 and still be overpowered, but maybe manageable.

Hey Jimmy, my 799 starts whistling when I reach a certain speed. Should I sand the trailing edge or just ignore? Maybe it noise will scare off the wildlife under the water.
Thanks for posting. How do you like the 99 for winging? I want to try winging and have the 99, I'm going to try practicing on the Wizard 125 first.
@sunsetsailboards3 жыл бұрын
The 99 was good for starting out but I haven't used it for awhile now. In lighter winds using the Fanatic HA 1750 or 1500. In normal and bigger winds usually Moses/SAB W1000 or W950

I show this video to people when I'm trying to explain how incredible windsurfing can be. Such great speed on the smooth water between waves and loved the navigation through all the waves.

Hey Kevin - where do you attach the uphaul on that setup? Around the Boom 'in the middle' or do you loop it around the mast, say above the lower clamp and and below the middle part of the boom?
