I'm wondering why you can't use a tracker on the ISS/CSS since the orbits are well known? Pretty cool though.
@kylemccaslin2 күн бұрын
@paddledogs it's just that it moves a bit too fast for most mounts when it's near the zenith/too high overhead. that and you'd need internet connection on the mounts (unless you are using autoguiding). And that's simply because the ISS has to make frequent small adjustments to it's orbit. They might be small bumps, but they can make a big difference given the scale.

so when you say 2 barlows, are you just sticking one after the other? Is that better than a single 4x or 3x barlow? Great stuff btw. I have a 6SE as well and swear that I can see the moons visually with the standard eyepiece.
@kylemccaslin2 күн бұрын
@paddledogs sticking one after the yes. It's probably less optimal than a single 4x or 3x. The additional surfaces in the 2 2x give more opportunity for something to go wrong. Does depend a little on the quality of your single 3x or 4x though.

I have got that telescope as a gift. But I don’t have an ASI camera ( to expensive for me) . How can I archive such images ( or videos) without an ASI camera? Is it possible ? All I can say is that the quality of my photos are far away from your videos ( just took pictures with an Adapter and a camera ) 😊🤷🏻♀️.

Hi Kyle, thanks for your video, it's so great! Just one question... what do you mean by rotating every 15 minutes or so? Should the camera rotate? Sorry for the ignorance, I have the same telescope and I make the modify to get prime focus, thanks for your help and greetings from Spain

For this are you tracking with just your 6se mount ? I have a celestron 127 SLT and tracking is iffy most of the time, using CPWI software, make it easier to set up but I wish it would track better after alignment . I try to get at least 4-5 objects to align with but haven't tried to sync to an object after alignment, since I started using the CPWI program. And what astro camera are you using?

If you could help me, I have a SCT and it seems to be collimated but the stars are like yours, not pinpoint and wobbles, is this normal for SCT? I have a Dob as well and it is pinpoint and the stars do not wobble. Looking at stars with SCT seems to be disappointing, moon looks good, terrestrial viewing is great, I can see ants on pole 30-40m away (clearer than the dob), stars just look crap. Do I have a dud?

Hi Kyle. I like your video. What’s your take on why plenty of the craters are clearly hexagonal in shape? Everywhere. Even in the photo you showed of the skipping splash craters….
@bobbe102Ай бұрын
Nice video, interesting!
@exif6839Ай бұрын
I have tried this with my EHD800. It is very difficult to collimate due to no exact measurements of the symmentry of the diffratciton rings and also the influence of the heat by targeting the adjustment screws. So for my opinion it is not the best solution to operate the collimation with such a star at all. additonally negative effects due to bad seeing. Im changed over to a collimation system with camera. but here we have also a lot of problems to do this in a perfect way because the camere only sees a very small round picture in the middle and mots of the camera resolution is lost. all together this collimation is a game with unknown end. For the best results an optical bench with plan parallel mirror and a laser system is necessary.
@kylemccaslinАй бұрын
Very fair point. The method I use is absolutely very qualitative and somewhat dependent on the seeing. I think it gets you 80 - 90% of the way there though without additional hardware. Certainly agree that a numerical camera-bazed measurement would be better, and a true optical calibration test bench with a controlled light source would be the absolute best. Thank you for the comment!

@skmccaslin97Ай бұрын
I am trying to understand your comment. When you say “not bigger than the earth,“ are you referring to the size of the plasma rings/coronal loops? Because the Earth is about 12,000 km in diameter while the coronal loops on the sun can range in size from a few hundred thousand kilometers to several million kilometers in length.
