As a musician and a percussionist, this guy has it to the Tee. His words are more than music, they are wisdom.

The recent years I have shared with the percussion player Paoli M , which has toured with Santana. But this has been a sad event. RIP.

Thank you for your comments! My son, 16-years at the time, did the interviews and Carlos was so open to share his wisdom. Raul, was so honest because they all knew my focus was advice for young musicians. Thank you for your comments!

Such great interviews! This is the greatness of Santana. No egos getting in the way of the music. The Raul Rekow interview brought tears to my eyes. Carlos and his comrades are always about love and work and positivity and the groove. Viva Santana!

Fortunate to have been in the audience of many Santana shows through the 70's and 80's. Raul was smiling ear to ear every time I saw them. He had the most fun of anyone. RIP

I didnt know him from a ham sandwich......may he rest in paradise....but if you're a fan of Santana the band, there is NO WAY IN HELL, you're NOT a fan of Raul. His percussion playing, was literally the spine of that band. Watch a concert of theirs, and if you dont know Raul, all you gotta do is look for the cat with the big smile on his face. That's who is was. One of the great percussionists in the music industry...along with Paulinho da Costa, hands down.

He said in his book he kicked a woman in the head to get her off the stage at the 1969 Altamont concert! Claims he hates bullies but did this...go figure. I will say the man had intelligence. He seemed to have mellowed out in his later years.

He spoke the truth, even today being a percussionist my band leader doesn't give us any space to shine, but you got to find that space yourself. Through that selfish behavior, you push yourself through. May your soul continue resting in eternal peace.

I’m an Aussie, never been to America but if I’d ever had the chance to I’d have tried my damndest to meet this bloke, many years before his throat cancer some friends did and all said he made them feel like they were the the only people in the room, he made them feel important. When I was 16 I lived a few doors from a chapter president (I actually knew him since 4 years old) he gave me a few decals, one was “Free Sonny Barger” the other Support your local Hell’s Angels” which I think has now been replaced with Big red machine and 81, I treasured them but unfortunately stuck them to my helmet (should’ve saved them) My friend and now Sonny are gone, they were both from different times, rough times but better, you knew exactly where you stood back then, nowadays the clubs here are mostly middle Eastern with many trying to make names for themselves, back in the day the clubs tried to keep that shit amongst themselves and amongst the people who wanted to be involved, if not for that I’d have prospected, even now at 67 I’d be tempted but only if things went back to old school: what was will never be again. RIP Sonny and Jed/Animal.
