Here in South Brazil, we also have a German dialect called Sapato de Pau. I don't understand it, but my parents did, so listening to this remembers me a lot about it, and it's funny, some words here also got integrated from Portuguese, and I can see that is almost the same dialect, but with English words instead.

Michael Werner, are you originally from Germany? I noticed that your accent is very different from others' accents in the video. You seem to have a German accent when using English words whereas many of the other speakers had a strong English accent when pronouncing the German dutch words.
@annedupin35404 ай бұрын
Ha! I googled you. Yes, you are German. That's probably why I understand your Pennsylvania Dutch so well (I'm German as well).
@annedupin35404 ай бұрын

Very interesting… that “rosette” is the same shape as the “germ of life” - see also the flower of life, and seed of life geometric symbols which are thousands of years old.

My parents sometimes referred to ground hog day as, "halb futter gfräß" meaning that the winter's feed supply should be halfway used up. If it was more than halfway through then you probably wouldn't have enough to last until the next harvest. But we NEVER said "Hanning" I only heard of that word a few years ago and it seems totally foreign to me, a Pennsylvania Deutsch speaker from childhood.
Palatine German must close enough to P.A. Dutch. The audience didn't have a problem following along.
@gehtdichnixan320011 ай бұрын
only some words are diferent and the accent with some english skills you have no problems when your from the palatine what i love is when the pa dutch palatinised english words like gejumpt
