Harry was one of the most gifted composers i have ever studied. Truly a gift to write songs that read like a story without awkward phrases. I still listen to him often and marvel at his talent.

Never knew the talent behind the Muppets with the exception of Jim Henson and Frank Oz. It’s never been the same without these men. Frank had to carry the torch for long after Jim passed. He was a loyal friend and puppeteer. Wish he would do more before he passes.

I was born in ‘73 and thankfully received a heavy dose of Chapin while growing up from my Mom. His music and contributions to humanitarian work continues to transcend his short time with us. ❤

I love how Dan stood up and moved to the other seat so that he can make room for Emma and Rups to seat closer and get more attention instead. Lovely❤

If you ask me then, avenue q deserves this. But wicked is such a phenomenon right now even before the film, wicked deserved it more. But both are so good in their own ways
@MsJubjubbirdАй бұрын
I think Avenue Q helped wicked last so long. It brought a whole new audience to Broadway that wouldn't normally go. What they couldn't predict is that how quickly times would change, so a lot for the references in Avenue Q are dated or wouldn't resonate with a politically correct Gen Z and Alpha.
@AEF95Ай бұрын
@ thats what makes it more relatable to be honest. The fall of woke is the uprising of the conservatives, which is avenue q in a way.

If this video is of Harry Chapin's final concert at Hamilton Place, that may be true. But it was not his final concert anywhere. He performed at Anna Bannana's on Beretania Street in Honolulu on July 8-10, 1981 (concerts at 8, 10 and midnight). That was six days before his death. I was there. He ended the concert, walking, playing guitar and singing around the left side of the tavern, then around the back. Wooden tables ran the length from back to front. He came down my row, and stopped right in front of me. As the last song came to an end, his right hand rose into the air. It started to come down and mine rose up. We clasped each other's hand as the audience erupted in applause. (I had met him the day before. We were both involved in hunger issues.) The next week, I was shocked to her about his death.

I am just now learning of the entire backstory behind this win, might be the greatest story and upset I have ever heard come from ANY entertainment awards ceremony. Reminds me of Moonlight winning over La La Land to a degree. I wish this story was more well known as the reaction of him winning is the greatest reaction meme of all time. How he's just flexing on the "establishment types" and their show with vastly more support, financing, etc.
